The wind has been blowing since late last night. I don't see things swaying and flying, in the crazy air that won't stop moving around becouse I'm too lazy to go outside or just open the blinds in my room. I'm also too lazy to create a long, fairly focused post about something in particular, so I decided to relax, and listen to the wind that plays outside my house, and a bit of YouTube music that plays on my computer.
I'll start with this old photograph that conveys the windy atmosphere through the waves and foam frozen in time, and then continue with the music suggested by the wind.
When I first heard this thing as a kid, probably on the radio, I always felt uplifted and kinda crazy in a good way while listening to it. I remember jumping on the couch with the jacket spread to resemble the wings of a bat or those things that flying squirrels have. Sometimes I used to tuck one end of a scarf in my pants so the rest of that scarf was like the tail of a flying squirrel. Flying squirrels were for me back then more cool and powerful than Superman and Batman together. That was in the last years of the seventies, I was very small. On those occasions, I had Silver Machine in mind.
Later in life, stoned & careless, I used to spin around to this song, spin around until I fell on the ground.
Nowadays, I don't do either of those things, but I feel a strong cosmic wind through that song, and I feel good.
Only recently, in the YouTube era, I listened to the entire albums from the band and found more songs to like and more music to fly with. Back then, in the times I was talking about, Hawkwind was only Silver Machine to me.
This album, for example, gives me that mesmerizing windy sensation that I loved so much as a kid, from the start to the end.
I like many songs with the wind in the title too, but that's another story, this one is about the music that delivers the wind.
I heard this thing on the TV the first time. I was very small and it scared the shit out of me. But it fascinated me at the same time. I adore this scene, it evokes strong confused feelings and that's mostly becouse of the music. It feels like a foreboding, alien wind blowing through my skull while I'm long dead, reduced to washed-out bones but still somehow present in the world. 😃 Not many things can make me feel that way.
I could find more music that suits the theme of this post, but I don't want the post to be too good. It all started as a relaxation from blogging, and to make it stay that way, I'll have to cut it here - THE END.
OK, I reconsidered. But just one more, and then Game Over.
The album this song is part of was released in 1997. A few years later I came across it in a small CD store in Pula, the nearest city to the place where I live.
Didn't know how the music sounded, but I liked the long and weird title - The Mysterious Tale of How I Shouted "Wrong-Eyed Jesus" - so I bought it.
I love the album, I think Jim White is a unique singer-songwriter, and this is my second favorite song on that album. The last third of the song can deliver a chilly wind into your room.
In the following YouTube video ...
... you can hear my favorite song from The Mysterious Tale of How I Shouted "Wrong-Eyed Jesus"
AND THAT'S IT. FOURTEEN HOURS HAVE PASSED FROM THE PUBLISHING OF MY LAST POST, IT'S ABOUT THE TIME TO SPITT OUT ANOTHER ONE. AS ALWAYS HERE ON HIVE, THE ONLY PHOTOGRAPH IN TODAY'S POST IS MY WORK.
I remember buying the single "Silver Machine" (on 45 RPM Vinyl) from a second hand record shop in London. Back in the 1970's many records were sold in shops and street markets with the middle of the record missing. Reason being: They were ex-jukebox records and needed a special plastic adapter to fit the large hole for a normal record player !LOL 🤣
Stay !ALIVE & feel the groove! 😎 !VSC
Cool! 😃 Didn't know about ex-jukebox records and the adapter. It's a nice piece of vinyl history. This comment is more like a good little post, not just a comment.
As you can see (below) old Vinyl can be very expensive depending on the rarity 😄
Adapter (close up).
Note: Both "Screen shot" Images are from Ebay & Google search

The title of the song is indeed weird. Jim got a cool voice. I think I will have to listen to this once more on my own. I love the songs

I'll tell you what I think, many people would like to fly, when they ask them what to choose if you have several powers, that is the choice, fly, but if you ask me, I choose to be invisible, I understand perfectly what you say in the post, childhood is that wonderful stage of life that we never forget
It's a very beautiful song and listening to it all reminded me of my past time.
