Sometimes i feel the world would have been so empty and vague without music, "The night we met" by Lord Huron has been on my lips for a pretty long time now. I discovered this masterpiece when I was dealing with a breakup/heartbreak—and from being able to relate to it, to it being one of my favorite songs, so I'll be sharing with you reasons I think make the song a unique and great one.
The intro: it starts with a melancholic intro that sets the mood of sadness with a soft yet strong piano style. One could start feeling the song in the heart already.
The song talks about the heartbreak that comes with losing someone and the feeling of wanting to go back. "I had all and then most of you,
Some and now none of you
Take me back to the night we met".
"I don't know what I am supposed to do,
Haunted by the ghost of you
Oh take me back to the night we met".
In these lines of lyrics, Lord Huron bemoans the slow and steady loss of the love he shared with someone. From having everything with them—from having everything with them to having something with them and then to having nothing at all.
In the lyrics, the singer Lord Huron, showed the desire to to go back to how everything was in the beginning. "The night we met"where he and his person were both full of love for each other.
I could relate to this when I was going through a heartbreak. I blamed myself for how things turned out, wishing I could just turn the hands of the clock to when the love was still alive. I tried fighting back to get back the relationship and was confused as to how to restart my life without the person I loved.
Truly, the deep pain of lost love is profound and i wish to never feel that again.
In Lord Huron's vocals, you could feel the soft and echoing pain in his voice, making it a desperate song that triggers a sense of nostalgia.
