I'm not going to black it out, due to time issues I've only listened to MARRON while reading your post; in fact it was very appropriate to put it in the second part of your writing, since at the beginning I felt exactly like you, no matter the place and the good vibes, I'm always one of those who clings to the chair with good friends to talk about life hahaha.
Sure, with this music and the right people I could dance for a while too, but in the end I'll always go backwards, where the sound quality gets lost, could it be age? Or I'm just boring 🤣 I loved reading you because I found a lot of me in your story, I think the only thing I regret is that I can't take pictures, but at least the ones you've taken from the plane look great to conclude. I send you a sincere hug my friend!...
Yeah, part of going out is the connect with people. While we can do this anywhere, at home, in a bar, we can also do this at places where people go to dance. Most places I don't like, since they are meant for standing and dancing, ie not many places to sit or lie down. But some of those club owners start to understand and create spaces that allow a 24hrs session. Everything at hand, sometimes even with waterbeds and all. Food is needed as well. And great people of course.
Am glad to read you have many similar experiences! No matter the music genre, the ultimate experience is the whole crowd becomes one. When that happens, maximum pleasure.
The sound quality thingy? Noooo, not for me. Sure my ears may not hear the super high frequencies anymore, it is all about the speakers, their positions, the mixer, the mixer guy, and how everything is tuned. At Berghain, the tuning is nearly perfect. They spend tons, and I mean tons of money to get this right and to keep it right. Within the row of these speakers, the sound is the best, quite uniform for at least 10 meters from the stage/DJ booth backwards. Where we moved to for Marron set, was just a few meters to the back of this 'row'. The bass rolls still and vibrates in our chest, but the mid and high tones get a bit less, even though they have tweeters pointing to the back.
Thanks so much for your comment. NJOY your Sunday. Darn, it is early where you are. Or is your bed still waiting for your Saturday night sleep?
I never visited Berlin or dance clubs, but after reading your post, I visited 2 and listened to some minimal techno... 😃 As you didn't take photos from the inside, I was picturing the image from your words...
Happy to hear that you had the best times in Berlin!!
Great to read you are also ALIVE .. with all the moving and shizzle. Glad you made it. Hope you like the new place. The new village. The new everything. Also hope not too quiet now your son is studying?
Hope you had some nice mind pictures. Not sure what you got mostly drown into.
Next time Berlin, you shall join and get the experience first hand. And when the music is a bit too hard, Panaromabar is also open, more House music than Techno. Similar type of peeps though, and as Free as it is on the Berghain floor. Same club, so same 'rules'.
NJOY your Sunday and all the quietness with MiPiano being away playing the piano to some oldies 🎶😆
🙏 Thank you, thank you for the views... my head was already spinning.
I don't know if I'll last that long. I haven't been to clubs for years and loud music bothers me. I'm entering a serious or boredom phase... I've got a lot of grey hair.
I love reading you and I leave you warm regards!
PS. Interesting about the stickers on camera phones. That's new info for me.
Loud Music: That is why earplugs were invented. Feel the base while keeping the dBs away from the eardrums. Sure, one should get the proper earplugs, the ones classical instrument players also use, reducing between 15 and 25 dB across all frequencies. I can't do this without those anymore. I've been using them for about 25 years already.
Boredom: well, there's nothing wrong with that. I love my days and evenings at home, with a good book, a great movie, or simply with some cool music.
The stickers, yeah, they started to do this in Berlin in some clubs ages ago. The idea is: what happens in the club, stays in the club. Additionally, the idea of partying is to live in the moment, not through the camera with which peeps try to capture the moment for future use. Many clubs in my home town started to forbid phones on the dance floor, but didn't go the extra mile to glue stickers on the cameras.
Thanks for stopping by.
ps Somehow I told myself to post these adventures more regularly. Had some more of such adevntures in recent months, a whole weekend from Friday to Sunday in my home city. And a very interesting one (well interesting for me) in Tbilisi. I feel I have to write those stories; perhaps I can share them on HIVE. Who knows. Time will tell 🎶🥳🙂 Saillant detail: in Tbilisi, guards constantly checked the people on the dance floor to see whether they used their phones to text or record the DJ set. When the latter was expected, the guards would jump in and pull such a person away from the dance floor.
We are here, among many other things, to tell stories, so why not do it.
I find it very rewarding to learn through the experiences of others and also to be able to communicate directly with them. You're great @edje, don't deprive us of that.
Sunday daytime is the best at Berghain; Rarely go at the start, the Saturday to Sunday night is too crowded and too many 'real' tourists. Sunday evening gets filled up again. When good, we stay, when not top-notch, we leave. Or we leave because we want good food 😆 Sometimes, after the good food, we re-enter 🎶 Not this time though.
I will do a short comment and just totally agree with your concept of freedom!
And thanks for reminding me that I have to get out of Spain and visit Berlin as has been on my to-do list for 20 years or so!
Coollllio .. Amsterdam is a nice destination as well. On party front a little less crazy perhaps, but I had (again) a fantastic time last Amsterdam Dance Event. Was able to get to the better locations. One that isn't much different to what I get in Berlin.
Spain isn't a bad place to be at right now. Mucho warmer. Friends are travelling now, with their campervan, to njoy a winter of great weather and warm climate. I wish I could do that, but my employer doesn't like it when I don't show up in the office from time to time.
The office is so overrated, but explain that to the boss.... I can work anywhere ......as long as its in Spain. I truly never missed Amsterdam, but when I was in Haarlem last summer I do enjoy myself...
Office is were I hardly am. I guess, 1 time a week with my customer in Apeldoorn (love the area, always take detours when driving, through the forest instead of using the highway). And 1 time per two weeks to the office in Amersfoort. So all good. My dream still is: Crypto doing me well so I can ditch the office job. Perhaps I wont ditch it, but make demands such as: If you want to keep me in your organisation, you'll have to let me deal with where I work and when I show up. Wondering what they will say when this ever happens. I think this may end up in much discussions since I have the feeling they don't want me to move out of the company.
I think I just discovered another artist reading your blog
I really love the song by MARRON you just shared and I will be exploring him more, heheh

Grey Hair: I have grey and white combined.

Ahhh Berlin! One of the EBM capitals of the world!
Perhaps 'the' electronic dance capital of the world, well, at least for techno and such styles 🎶
Oe....a sunday in Berghain, good going there. That is how weekenders should be! With friends, everybody doing something, yeahhhhhh
