MUSIC IS MORE THAN A SOUND

For a couple of days I have been facing my challenges with what it entails to be a man, for me, it's not surprising things or strange. I am not strange this reality and I longer find it new. Being a man requires a level of understanding that life wouldn't give you what you want but only give you what you ask for.

I remember a scene from a movie where it was compensation day when the boss had to pay his workers their new compensation for the successful quarter. What struck me was when a worker came into the office and requested for a huge raise and all she had to say was

You don't get what you don't ask for

This is true and proves my point. Hardly will you get what you didn't ask for or when someone surprises you, don't get me wrong but all I am saying is that it's not every day we get surprises.

But when it comes to music we definitely get what we didn't ask for and even what we ask for too. It is just amazing how African artists have put us on the world map and people have come to respect the talents we have. The world now sees Afrobeats as something phenomenal and nothing less than that. The sound, the artist, and the lifestyle behind it, just make it a different energy you want to feel. Artists like Wizkid, Burnaboy, Davido, and many more have really shown that Nigeria is a place filled with talents and not a country known for only bad governance and social vices.

In this article, I just want to show that music is more than a sound. Currently, music is a universal language which means it can be used as a form of communication without any border.
For most people, music is more than a sound, it is a relief from whatever they are going through. The world is getting tougher but it is just like with music there is a relief. And how best to do this than to do it with my favorite songs.

Beautiful Rain by CAVEMEN

This song by the spiritual men, Cavemen, talks about the beauty of rain and relates it to the struggles they are going through and how they just want it to be all washed away with the water from the rain. A line in the song goes like this

Oh Oh rain, rain down on me
heal all my flaws
beautiful rain.

It's Plenty by Burna Boy

This is a hit song from the AFRICAN GIANT, the best in his lane. When it comes to music and releasing hit songs, this guy finds it easy and does it effortlessly. In this song, Burna talks about how he wants to live his best life without stress and unnecessary worries. Burna goes like this

Gbe mi trabaye
Make you no dey shalaye
I don't want nobody to give my matter k-leg
For this life I dey, I want to be celebrated
Don't wanna waste my days
I want to spend them on enjoyment

Bad to me by Wizkid

This is an amapiano sound from the boss of afrobeats and he killed it. The song says a lot and it gives that moving energy where you just want to shake your body.

Highway, burst it my way
This kind of body don dey cause e migraine
And when we leave, we fit do am your way
Or if you want, we fit do am my way
Highway, two shot I don take
You turn me on, I no dey go I wan dey
I no dey care, say the bad mind dem pree
Money on me mind all day

Many Many Ways by Bnxn and Wizkid

This song makes it to my playlist every single time and I just love how it's so sexual because it talks about a sexual experience where the guy made it his full obligation to satisfy the lady and damn he sure did a good job.
It goes like this

There’s so many, many ways (Yeah)
Many, many ways to touch you, and make your body shake (Oh)
Many, many places
There are so many, many ways
Many, many ways to touch you, and make your body shake (Shake)

Indeed, music is a universal language everyone can understand. Well, we perceive the feeling, through sound, as there are also so many genres and cultures with completely different music that we are not used to listening to.

Welcome to this little corner, about music-inspired writing. I would like to remind you that engagement is highly recommended, not just in this corner but on the whole platform too. Not easy in the beginning, but if you take your time to visit niches and communities you are interested in, you can find like-minded people and it's easier to start to talk.
Greetings!

Nigerian songs these days inspire me. I've always loved songs from cavemen. Their sound helps me on a daily

They are spiritual

I can’t go a day without listening to Nigeria music. It’s like medicine to my soul. Especially that of burna boy, he’s jam is everything 🥹❤️. Thanks for sharing

You are welcome.
Burna is mindblowing

I agree with you. The world is only now beginning to open its eyes to the prospects, uniqueness, and beauty of afrobeats! I believe a couple years from now, it would be the norm - more so than hip-hop, R&B, and pop even!

Also, that Bad to me song by wizkid is ill!!!

Glad you can see the light as well.

The sound that comes after any song is just the final result of an entire process. Music is way more than just noise. It's the whole experience and more important, all the feeling involve into it.

Music is heavy and rally deeper than we have ever really dug out...

More will be done..
