Have you lost someone and almost lost yourself in the process?
Then you can relate with this song especially if you lost a father. One of the most powerful backbone of any child's upbringing, the foundation of any child's life is having enabling parents, especially their fathers.
Back then when I was still a kid, we had a neighbor. They had a daughter, she used to play with me, not minding the age gap between us. She was the only child of her parents and her dad was in the military back then. I remember she always came back for the holidays, since she was in boarding school, then suddenly her dad died. I remember how they waited till she came back from the home for the holidays before breaking the news to her, she was the only child and a daddy's girl. And that joy of having a father was taken away from her, it was a wound that could never heal a void that could never be filled. After the death of her Dad, she and her mom moved out of our area, but we still communicate.
Few years back after she got married, and I was fortunate to be there, in her speech she called him a one man army, a father like no other, she told him in her speech how she had gone through the harsh part of life without his assistance, how she had grown to the kind of woman he wanted her to be, how she and her mother had gone through the tough and sweet days without him around. She had said a lot of emotional touching words, thanking him for giving her strength, and wishing she could have danced with him on her wedding day, instead of writing a speech full of his memories.
I think everyone cried, even the groom. I cried too, cause I know that feeling of losing someone, not my parents.
So these lyrics hit home, my friend was forced to make peace with reality, knowing her father won't be there for her anymore. In her heart he will live on but she won't have a father who she could run too for advice, her best friend, her first boyfriend and the strongest backbone in her life was gone, she was forced into that reality and she had to mature up faster than she could.
The song peace with pain sang by Jonas Conner deliver a power message, it's talking about a man who's dealing with life obstacles, struggling with addiction till he died, or it took his life, making his lost bring forth some pains that won't heal, he left a daughter that had to deal with his death, she went from waiting for his calls till never from him ever again, in the lyrics, Jonas Conner was wishing him peace even though he left so much pain behind, he just wanted him to know he didn't hate him, that he wasn't alone even when he was struggling, he had families and friends who were willing to be there for him. But now he's gone, leaving what little memories of himself behind.
And to those who had lost people dear to their heart this year, I pray God gives you the will to carry on, living with them in your hearts and making the best of the years to come in happiness and peace.
