The World is full of Questions

In this blog, I decided to have a play with words in a fun and rant way.

Our world is full of questions. Sometimes, these questions have direct answers, while most times, they get directed to another group of people. That group, in turn, redirects the question to yet another group. These are the kinds of questions that seem to have no answers, or perhaps they do, but no one wants to admit to them. Or maybe people are too scared to answer because doing so would put their lives at risk.

The paragraph above may appear nonsensical or abnormal due to how ranty it sounds, but there is truth in it. That is exactly where a songwriter, a lady, Omawumi, came up with a song titled "If You Ask Me".

The lyrics go like this:

"If you ask me, na who I go ask?"
"The matter wey we see so, e tay wey e start."
"No be me go talk am, e heavy for mouth."
"If you ask me the matter for ground,"
"Eh, na who I go ask?"

Explanation:

"If you ask me, who am I going to ask?"
"The problem at hand did not start today."
"And it is very heavy in my mouth to say out loud."
"So, who am I going to ask?"

I hope you can relate now. If you still cannot, let me give you some instances.

In government houses or political sectors, a lot of wrongs are going on. Many evil acts happen there, and they are openly known by the people in those circles. Now, if someone, let’s say a low-level member of such a house, gets interviewed, they will be very mindful of how they answer. They may know the direct answers to some of the questions being asked, but they will choose to redirect the questions to someone higher up. Or perhaps they will smartly answer in a way that covers up the truth without revealing the needed answers.

This song by Omawumi trended very well in Nigeria during its time, and the main focus of the song, though used in a joking way, was often applied to cover up many questions that truly needed answers.

For me, I have a lot of questions, questions about this world, questions about finances, especially regarding the mechanism by which rituals supposedly yield riches. But if I ask you, you will not give me an answer because you do not know either. You will surely refer me to someone else. Lolz.

Thanks!
