REO Speed wagon - Keep on Loving You
A while ago I bought a new turntable that connects directly to my bluetooth speaker instead of my amplifier and big speaker. I decided to sell the redundant kit, no point them sitting at home not doing anything. I found a buyer from FB and he wanted confirmation everything worked. I connected them up and randomly played a song from Spotify to do a video for him. When the music blast out over the speakers, it nearly bought tears to my eyes. The song was one I used to love listening to, and the room garage was immediately filled with the most beautiful music I'd listened to for a long time. The sound quality was so much better than my bluetooth speakers, it was open, airy, crisp and balanced. My heart told me not to sell the speakers, keep them, they play beautiful music. My head ultimately won.
Here's the full version of Keep on loving you by REO Speed Wagon,, my first song for this week's Three Tune Tuesday.
Leona Lewis - Better in Time
Leona Lewis is definitely the best thing that's come out from X Factor UK. She won the talent show in 2006 and released her first album called Spirit the following year. Spirit is the quickest album to sell one million copies, and the best selling debut album by a female artist in UK.
The most popular song from the album is undoubtedly Bleeding Love. I remember when it was released, we had just bought a new place and my husband was driving there every day for a few months to do it up. Bleeding Love was so popular back then that it would be played on the radio without fail everytime he was driving "Keep bleeding, keep keep bleeding" blasting out on a high pitch. It would drive him crazy 🤣🤣!!

Today I want to share with you another hit from the same album. I heard it on the radio when I woke up a few days ago and it's been in my mind since. It's been a long time since I listened to any of Leona Lewis's song, this is Better in time.
Brooklyn Duo - Canon
It's no secret to some of my friends on Hive know how much I love Canon D by Pachebel. Recently I've been listening to Brooklyn Duo, a couple who does a lot of covers playing the piano and cello. Often I play this cover on repeat when I'm working.
But my favourite version is this one played by Hive's very own pianist. It's such a beautiful performance, I just can't get enough of it. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

I think there have been steps backwards in how people listen to music. Most seems to happen on earbuds or small Bluetooth speakers and few people seem to have 'proper' speakers. I have a pair of powerful monitor speakers at my desk and there is a turntable hooked up that gets some use. I have all my CDs ripped on the computer, but in lossless format (FLAC) rather than MP3.
I do have a thing for cello music. It is such a great sound. Not everyone is a fan of Pachebel though.
Omg! That's so funny 😂😂
Sometimes I do regret selling my speakers, they were good. If my turntable had a built in amp, I'd definitely keep them sigh...
Ohh, I used to listen a lot to Leona Lewis a while ago!! Should definitely get into her music again. I miss the good old music!
Good old music??? You're still very young!!!😀
I know what you mean. Listening to music from our earlier years always being back some nice memories
<3 thank you for not forgetting about that Canon ;)
I also like Brooklyn Duo and their covers, they play beautifully! 🤩
Hopefully the new owner of the speakers will also enjoy a lot of good music 🎶
I originally sold him the amp , he said he was starting to get into vinyls so I upsold him my speakers as well. Then it turned out my amp doesn't balance, I didn't realise it when I did the demo and he returned them to me, for a refund of course. At least I'm glad the speakers went to a good home
Can't say I'm a classical music fan but LOVE Pachelbel's Canon in D. Funny thing is, this was how I heard it for the first time ever:
Rock on! 😁
That's a nice one! It's so contained yet so energetic!
He has insane guitar skills! Definitely put to good use here, liked it so much that made me search for the original.
These are very beautiful songs. It's too bad that most of them were released before I was born because I didn't have the chance to listen to them.
By the way, can I borrow the speakers? I can use them at the wedding 😂
Luckily you can always catch up with old songs on the internet now, lots of oldies gems around!! Canon would be a very nice one to play at your wedding, it's popular with many people. The lyrics in the chorus of Keep on Loving you is also romantic, the verse not so, but people have been known to play that at their weddings
Oh I was in John Lewis last week, and very nearly walked home with a turntable till I got sensible and realised I don't have any vinyl anymore!
.... it would help to have some vinyl to play on the turntable 🙃 but you can always get some 2nd hand ones. I think the turntable looks pretty cool at home
Yeah it will look cool I can imagine. Yes there was even a record fair in our local shopping centre at the weekend, and I found myself browsing through albums thinking oh yeah!
Cool! A girl has to have her musical den with a clean and surrounding sound. Hive's pianist yesterday (according to Spanish time) had an important performance... I'm sure it was a success. 😉
I miss my speakers, they were so lovely. Now I just have to settle with my Bluetooth speakers, but they're pretty good
👌🏻 This year I will remove everything from my life that has no real function. I will live with fewer things but of higher quality.
Maximum minimalist, way to go! I'm starting to sell off a lot of my personal belongings, things that I no longer wear or collected in the past, it can be difficult to not feel attached to them sometimes but I'm adjusting to it.
That will give us a lot of clarity. Life is not about accumulating things, but about living. So I will only buy something I really need when what I use wears out or breaks.
I love Canon in D. We had it played at our wedding as many people do. My wife and I got to see REO in concert. They are so good even now that they are older.
That's so romantic, we didn't have any music at our wedding, it was a traditional Chinese banquet and music is not normally a big part of it.
I think that was the song that my wife walked down the aisle to. Don't let her know I am not 100% sure though!
😄
I was dying to hear one of mipiano plays, and hearing it for the first time gets my body filled with waves, its a true beautiful piece, I'll try it up with my speakers to feel the power of it
mipiano plays beautiful, especially when she plays one of my favourite piece of music
As the monster talent of Meatloaf once sang, two out of three ain't bad
curios, which is the third? 🤔
Muy buena letra y mejor interpretación. Gracias por presentarla
You're welcome, glad you enjoyed it
Of course you choose a beautiful song to test the new turntable

I didn't actually play any music from my turntable in this post
I must have misunderstood, translations into Spanish are sometimes difficult.
The sounds coming From the speakers are good to hear
they're not bad
I like the last beat the most as it's a very satisfying, I listened to it completely and enjoyed it.😌

Every time I want to sell something with memories attached to it my heart protests, like you I usually listen to my head instead though. Music is one of the strongest sources of memories for me, I can basically always remember what song was playing when something happened, just don't ask me to remember names or what I ate the day before 😂
It was cool to see a few songs that are special to you and read about what they mean in your life 😄
Pretty eclectic selection. REO and anything out of late 70's to mid 80's are timeless. In this electronic world we live in it's so nice to hear real instruments play something soothing like Canon in D. Now back to blasting dnb heaters. There's work to do!
On edit, I don't have large speakers anywhere anymore so I've never compared them to bluetooth, but I image there is some sound loss, that warmth that comes with vinyl.
