While this music is still waiting for me to go back and practice it a hundred times more, I am taking a little break. checking hive...planning to go to the market to buy fruits... cleaning... - doing anything just to escape from suffering. 😁 Yeah, I know, it can be called work postponement or procrastination, and it is not a good thing. I shouldn't allow myself that luxury or procrastination because there's really no time for that. You know when a little devil is whispering into your ears that everything is easier and more tempting than playing the same part so many times without the feeling that it improves.
That is how studying sometimes goes. My son sent me the other day (late evening actually) a photo from a practice room where he studied. The smiley he added to the photo was not the happiest; he was already tired, but I consoled him in the best possible way 😂 - that I was suffering too and sent him a video of how bad my playing went. When I later watched the video, I realized this would need much more time to go smoothly and with confidence. It is already a bit better today (is it again the little devil speaking that I can relax and study less?).
There is an interesting thing about learning new music. I may have tried to describe it in the past, but I always have the same or similar feeling. So it is like meeting a person for the first time; you start interacting and then you get to know them a little better, and you see more details, qualities and parts that you connect with very quickly, but also features that are uncharted territory for you. It takes effort to get to know it well, but overall, it is an enjoyable experience. It is exciting to come across all the discoveries and feel the process of adaptation.
Now, this phase of mastering a subject that I am more or less familiar with is a tricky thing. I used to process the stages faster, and I am not sure why, but now I struggle with remembering. My hands don't get the commands from my mind at the right time, and then I make mistakes and start playing nonsense. When I play a song a few times in a row, it gets better so I manage to play it with confidence, then I come back a few hours later or the next day and some parts are like I have never seen or played them before. Then I get up and do other things hahaha.
One of those other things was to take these children's drawings (of some comics) out of the frames and use the frames for other paintings or photographs that I would like to hang on the walls. I used pliers to remove small nails from the other side, washed the glass and imagined what I could use them for. I also got a wooden thorn in my fingertip while doing this DIY activity... 🤦♀
Yesterday at a fair, I saw interesting wall decorations and the one I liked the most was a board with piano keys "drawn" on it with a leather thread. I suppose this is not unique; it is certainly industrially made, but it doesn't matter, I liked it so much that I bought it and brought it home. I was trying out the frames that I already prepared, however, they didn't match the size of my new piano keys, so I found another picture we had, took it out, washed the glass and framed my new wall decoration.
I also hung it on a wall in my piano room. It feels a bit tiny on that wall but it had to go there because there was a nail hole already from a previously hung picture. I tried to set this corner of the room more or less in similar tones. Black, as the piano is black, and the frames of the flower photos are black, as well as the sculpture that is listening to my studying. White as the keys are white and the wall & curtains too, plus the crystal mini piano. The standing lamp is also white, plus the lamps on the ceiling are of the same style. This is about this corner as the opposite wall hosts shelves with music scores and books, glass shelves with small decorative items, and a coat hanger. There is a big closet in the wall that is on the right of the piano, it simply has to be there as I didn't find a better place for it at the moment.
You see, I will even describe how this room is just to skip practising lol. But It is fine as I will be back there in no time and continue taming my mind and fingers as it is that - brain cells training.
Practising/ learning can be hard sometimes… we do tend towards overthinking it, doing anything else to distract us. It’s a human thing… luckily in the end we all manage and get it done 😁
Have a wonderful weekend 😊

A human thing that it is indeed. Oh, I hope this thing will also be in that managed category hahaha, I will see tomorrow 😂
Thank you, and the same to you 😇
Let’s hope… crossing my fingers 🤞🏻🤞🏻
You are welcome 🤗 thanks a lot!

Just out of curiosity, can such ebook/tablet follow the music and turn pages itself?
It could follow the music only if I used a special program and connected it to the piano. It is used for learning purposes.
But I don't use it. I just "read" the music from the tablet and have for this a Bluetooth pedal. I will put here a photo in a moment. Pressing the right pedal it turns to the next page and the left pedal to the previous page (as we sometimes have repetition marks, which means going back to some previous part etc. so I need both directions). I press these with my left foot, as the other one is for the sustain pedal of the piano.
That's such a clever little gadget. I remember in the past I'd see musicians fumbling with turning the pages while playing their instrument, which must have been quite difficult. Technology has truly invaded in our lives everywhere, but nothing beats a live music 💪
Sometimes the musicians ask for help in this activity, but the one who helps needs to read the music simultaneously as the musician plays. When I was a student that was my first paid job - at one international festival I was turning the pages to the pianists, yay I was on the stage with good musicians, just not performing hahaha 😂
Haha, so hi-tech :)) Thanks for such elaborated reply :))
Haha, it's simple but a lifesaver when I have to turn the page 😆
You are welcome ;)
I think if I saw that art work at the market, I wouldn't have immediately thought of piano keys, but now you mention it, I can't unsee it. Your piano room is becoming more and more piano-ie now😃
Professional deformation haha, I will always spot piano keys. There was also a trumpet and a guitar, but I bought just with my instrument; and good I didn't buy the others as the frames I prepared are too big (and two too small). Just this one was of the perfect size - it wasn't a coincidence I think 😇
Yes :))
It is thanks to the precious mini piano 😍 and these piano keys, and also to more music-related items on the glass shelves on the other side of the room. Unmistakably musical room, not the crypto-office of Mr Stone Transporter from Split 😆
Maybe you're just a bit saturated with things... it's happened to me and clearing your mind with something else helps. The reality is that learning new things trains our brain so that later on there are no complications... you know....
And the piano room is beautiful! A peaceful and harmonious place .... missing a tray with... rocks.
Theme: rocks with drawings and motifs that you would say to yourself to raise your energy and happiness, to feel better. Motivational rocks. I know... I'm delirious...
There are a few rocks, on the glass shelf on the other wall. But indeed just a few, those I already showed. I need more when I get there to paint some for the Christmas initiative. Tick tock, time is running; maybe I will paint them until the Xmas of next year 😂
Self-motivational rocks would be cool :))
Brain training - the cells need a lot of repetition, so the connection is established. And a lot of repetition means a lot of time and patience. Oh God, give me both 😂 Hahaha, it all goes a lot better until now 😉 One hour of completely new music for performance, I am happy with it, but I guess I had to start with it a month ago and not a week ago 😂
They can be motivating for ourselves or for others... it's just an idea.
But a month ago you were very busy... see? There was a lot of stress...
True... that is how it had to go, in a sped-up version of learning 😂
Everything will be fine and you will play that excellent piano piece, that's how it will be.😊
Take heart and keep practising. It doesn't matter if you have to repeat 200 or 300 times more, but feel that the reward when you have your presentation will be greater. You will feel confident and happy. And I love to see your magical space white with curtains that filter the light so beautifully and surely flutter in the wind too. ;)
What a great choice of curtains!
Very nice also that piano drawn with a leather thread. Put some stones if you feel like it, I liked amonet's recommendation.
I ate Panettone and studied until now, it goes almost great. But "almost" is not the same as perfect - the thing we never reach actually, so I am happy right now with the improvement of today. Will see tomorrow. 😂
Thank you for saying that the room is a magical space, I love the effort we put into making this space a home. It is so similar to my practising stage - almost great but there are always some things that I just postpone for another day, week or month. It is impossible to finish everything at once.
Homes are not made all at once, they are built day by day. This is how it will be. And I'm glad you've been eating sweet things 😄 and practicing. It's going to be fine. You have the energy, I can feel it.
That's not a little devil ... I find that some time relaxing gives the subconscious mind time to assimilate the material!
Very true, Frau Mathews. You know, as you have some wise people that accompany you on your beautiful walks 😊
Vielen Dank ... indeed, we have the advantage of many of my mentors being echoed there ... more than one taught me that "sleeping on it" is an actual thing!
When things need to be done and that voice assures us not to worry and not jump on it 😆 I'm sure that voice will fade and the voice of reasoning will come soon.
Cool 😎 art to add to your piano 🎹 room. Hope the thorn was easily removed from your fingertip. I haven't got a sliver in a long time but now that I mention it I'm sure it will happen soon. Happy weekend and happy practice playing 😃
The voices... maybe some icecream would help to call the good and responsible voice hahaha
The thorn is still here, and another one that got the other day under my nail, and it hurts a bit. No, don't mention it then haha, you don't need one!
Thank you and have a great weekend you too :))
The voices might be at conflict. Well not if you complete your practice and use it as a reward, hehe.
Oh no more than one sliver. Don't get any more it may be considered a collection, haha. Hopefully they fall out or get taken out soon.
Definitely at conflict. But I ate a huge piece of a Panettone and later practised - it goes much better now :) Until tomorrow, I will master everything, so the conclusion is that I need much more sweets hahahahaha 🤣
Sweets savory in the mouth and worthy to provide efforts 👌
Thank you :)
Hello friend, what a pleasure to read you. I see that you are worried. Of course, because you are a good professional and you like your music to be excellent. In my country they say that the clothes don't make the monk but the daily practice. So enjoy what you do and don't see it as a job. I really like your decoration, it makes you want to play and enjoy the music. I hope the thorn didn't hurt your finger too much so it doesn't hurt when you play. I was worried about that. Be careful. Greetings from Cuba.
I like this saying you wrote here, that the clothes don't make the monk but the daily practice. And it is how it is indeed, just our consistency and daily practice can bring success. Thank you for your nice comment, and my finger doesn't hurt anymore today. Gracias y un saludo, @yanerkidiaz 🌞
I did not laugh out loud.....
But I love that oversimplified piano on your wall, that is art! !PIMP
You promise you didn't? 😆
I hope you had a nice Sunday 😇
Its always good to resist the devil, reject any negativity. The bible says resist the devil and it will flee from you.
Muy bonito arte
All your pics are so clean and smooth at the same time. I don't how you do that but it brings real classy vibes to your post.
