Clandestine evening with music and dance

in Q Inspired-by-Music3 years ago (edited)

Last night I have been involved in some underground things... Could you imagine that?
A totally clandestine event which took place when the dark already came to cover this little town by the Mediterrane sea. And I have been there, enjoying it.

Yes, I did, I enjoyed it. Why those surprised faces now??

Music was involved in that action. Dance too. And some cool people who enjoyed themselves.

What they were doing?

Before you start to imagine in your mind what I have been doing yesterday evening I will clarify the thing. It was a dancing session on the street. There is a round place at the beginning of the promenade and sometimes there are concerts organized by the local authorities. However, this event yesterday was not organized by any authority, organization, dance school or else. People who danced there organized it on their own.

One of my adult piano students is dancing in a dance school and attends many courses held by renowned dancers. That is his passion so he many times talks to me about his experience. He has mentioned that sometimes they (not the school, just the people who really enjoy dancing) organize clandestino-s. Underground dancing sessions in different parts of the towns, usually on the streets where they will have some space to enjoy moving their bodies.

Forgotten freedom, felt through dance without rules, without an established partner. They can dance when they feel it, with the person they like to dance with at a certain moment. Talking, chatting, moving the body, practising new steps, making new choreographies, or just improvising them. In the moment.

Well, it is not that you just move your feet without some bases. They dance the Lindy hop style, but then freely add their steps, how the moment guides them. That style exists for a century almost, born in the United States. I am not a dancer, I can't define the steps and the used technique, but my student mentions charleston, jazz and swing dance. A mixture of elements from those styles.

For me, it seems a whole new territory, and it would be absolutely outside of my comfort zone to even try it. First, I should learn the basics, the steps, and practise it for several years to be able to dance anything from this Lindy hop style. But it does seem exciting to do it!

Night came. It was already dark, so my shots are terrible. I know, don't even try to say, anyone, that they are not terrible. But that is what I have. Maybe a better phone would take acceptable photos when it is dark, who knows... What I do know is that I want to picture you a little bit of atmosphere, just to see the location and people talking, dancing and having a nice evening. The rest is in your imagination. And in the video too :)

Oh, and the wind came too. It was blowing quite a bit, so unfortunately it also affected the sound in the video. I shot one flag, where it can be seen that it was not just a breeze. However, I recommend watching the video and catching a bit of the feeling and movements.

That was my yesterday evening clandestine activity :D Being there with them, no, not dancing, just enjoying the atmosphere. It would be cool to know to dance as they are doing, but I will not make any action to learn it. It would be just impossible. I just have to keep calm and continue learning my Rachmaninoff piece.

So, what about you? Do you dance? Professionally? As hobby? For your own joy?
When, how and with who you are doing it? All this, or else is what you can share with us in the comment section of this post or/and make your own post on the topic if you like. It would be great to see how dancing can bring freedom to the body and mind.

Some of the dancing reminded me of the Roaring twenties.
What do you mean you're not going to learn to dance, after you finish learning how to play the Rachmaninoff piece, what are you going to do with all of your free time.😁

Lol 🤣🤣🤣

Good question!

Though I am pretty sure I will find myself a new challenge even before I learn the Rachmaninoff thing (if I ever master it anyway 😁)

Last night I have been involved in some underground things... Could you imagine that?

I can! 🤣

Awesome, it looked like a fun event. Even a few guys there dancing. Normally there is a shortage of men dancers! Lol

It was fun, that's right!
I didn't notice the lack of guys 😉 maybe Lindy hop is a style both genders like equally 🎶🎶🎶🕺💃

I feel you 😅
I also don't know how to dance. But I love going to watch dance festival as I love watching people dancing.
It's nice to know that you enjoyed the night 🤗

Hahah, you do? So I am not the only one who enjoys seeing people who know how to dance indeed :))

Hahaha yes I do.
I didn't got the talent from my mom who knows how to dance. 😅
Before, I felt jealous but I learned that every one have unique skills and I learned what's for me. 😅
My cousins are good dancers, been wishing to be like them. I liked dance music but dancing don't liked me 🤣

I liked dance music but dancing don't liked me 🤣

Hahahaha, dancing doesn't like you. Hilarious!!

Yes, we all have some different skills, it is also rewarding to see people doing amazing things that we are not able to do. At least for me, it works that way, I am happy to see people being good in the skill they master! 😎

A good mindset of a person seeing other peoples talent even if he/she don't have it.Indeed @mipiano ☺️

Oh whao! This looks pretty amazing. You know, there's always something beaut about night time, dance and good company. It is nice to see again around here. Best luck for you, always. Love your post, totally.

Yes, there is beauty in night time and good company, and if dance and music is included, then it is already a perfection ;)

Looks like a lovely evening and dancing!

Yep, I had to find myself some entertainment as the rest of the people were enjoying Hive Fest :D

O dancing is real therapy for me ☺️
so liberating🙆‍♀️ everyone should do it💃💃💃
It's not matter how you dance as long as you dance😉
Freedom 🙆‍♀️

Liberating!! 👌

I feel the same way. Sometimes it happens when I play the piano :))

Yup, I love dancing as a hobby. I actually go to Zumba and kpop classes. I feel mostly better when I'm dancing! 😊

I used to go to Zumba too. 😀 Then covid came and it stopped, and when I wanted to continue, at the beginning of this year, it was already not available anymore. So no Zumba at the moment 😑

I'm glad there are people who have a positive outlook on life, it has turned into a wonderful feast with your pleasant expression. It's nice to be in the moment.🥰💐

I guess it's the way we should go, try to approach the thing with positivity :D

Thanks for joining this dance @tuba777 😄

🥰💐

Nice experience! is good go out from your comfort zone and make others activities.

Me gusta la idea de bailar en la calle, creo que es algo que alegra la ciudad 😁.

Sí, alegra la ciudad. No sé si estos bailes clandestinos son solamente populares aquí en España, o se hacen tamién en Venezuela?

Mmmm…your mention of piano in your previous post and this one makes me wonder if the “piano” in your username is actually a piano.

Like you? I’m not much of a dancer. My big sister who is a great dancer(used to be lol, she wouldn’t dance now even if you paid her to) tried teaching me when I was young, but I wasn’t really that interested.

That looks like a fun night. I would’ve tried some of the dance if I was there:) looks fun.

Piano, of course, piano as a musical instrument - in my username :) 🎹 🎶
A pianist here 👋

You would have fun, trying to dance there, by the sea, and maybe you would then remember again your sister who wanted to teach you :))

Thanks for dancing here at least in this virtual scene :D

yayyy💃💃💃💃, I could feel that you guys really had lots of fun with the dancing session, and I just feel like dancing along with you guys while watching the video, it was indeed a beautiful evening... hehehe

Yeah, it was fun being there 😀

Wow. That sounds fun. I love the place and the atmosphere.

The atmosphere was cool, really relaxed and fun evening it was 😎

One thing I wonder in these dances is how they know their partner’s move or next step when they dance. But obviously, I say to my mind they have been practicing together so it’s possible.

I love the song and the happiness I can see in this video.

Probably the years of practising give them the necessary steps and movements and then apply them when dancing with someone. The same as improvisation in music. First, you have to have the tools - knowing the scales, chord progressions etc and then you can do whatever you feel and imagine, and your band will follow you, right? I think it must be similar. :)

Only in Spain, because this does not happen in The Netherlands. Well the wind and the waves do happen, but people just dancing in public like that.... way too much protestant and Calvinistic blood up there in the north. Or maybe they just have no sense of rhythm like me😁

I thought people in the NL are more open-minded than in Spain so they would organize these dancing things... on daily basis? ;D

Maybe the thing is indeed in the Latin blood and love for fiestas and any kind of activity that includes being together and talk & dance 😀

They are no longer open-minded, nowadays only opinionated and please don't as the Dutch to dance or you need to be looking for laughs. At least not like in your video, a public get together and just dance because its fun, never seen that happen unless they were drunk on a festivity

For me, it seems a whole new territory, and it would be absolutely outside of my comfort zone to even try it.

Sounds like someone better start learning how to get uncomfortable :)

Also, secret underground dancing club?... Sounds illegal Lol.

I like to write, compose and listen to music, eat junk food. You know.. the usual.

I love this moment when people are just dancing out of joyfullness. Look like they were enjoying especially the old ones, just blessed to see them dance a love expression to their love ones.

Yeah, you are right! And dancing should be actually done out of joyfulness, as then the expression and the feelings are in place. 🙂

I am not good in dancing ♥️It's just that we are forced to perform sometimes whenever there is event, and we have no choice.
By the way, Happy World's Teacher Day my friend. ♥️

Oh no, you are forced to dance. oops. But I am sure it's just you thinking that you are not good at it. Maybe you do it well, or would do it well if not in front of people and as mandatory!

I missed replying to these comments yesterday, so I am wishing you the same, but with a day of delay 😉

Love this. Dance is life!

I do dance! For the joy of it. It is fun and a stress reliever! I have only been to a couple of street dances and the music was different, but, these would be fun! :)

That looks fun. We do that kind of thing sometimes but not on the streets but at home together with my drunk relatives. 😆
