The Fine Line Between Love and Delusion: A Look at Chris Brown’s Song

Happy New year music lovers..
It's been an amazing holiday season filled with lots of festivities for me and I hope yours was just as wonderful as mine too or even more. And guess what made it feel more special? It was MUSIC.

Hearing the sound of musics echoing at various nooks and crannies of the village added an unmatched beauty to the celebration. Nothing beats that feeling, for real.

I am not sure if this is common in your country, but over here in Nigeria, it is quite a popular thing for a lot of relationships to be established within this period, lol.
With the various homecoming of our countrymen living in other countries who might for one reason or another love to marry someone from their country, they tend to connect with someone for a relationship with whoever captures their eyes, hoping to build on it and then finally settle down with the person in no distant time.

So there I was, enjoying my Blues playlist when it shuffled to the song, Delusional by Chris Brown. It's a song I love listening to prior to now, but somehow, as I sang alongside the artist, I couldn't help but think about how most rushed relationships end in heartbreak. Even the ones that weren't rushed can sometimes end that way too but, just saying it happens more with the rushed ones.

Delusional by Chris Brown is the fifth track on Chris Brown's "11:11 (Deluxe)" album released on April 11, 2024. It is a song that focuses in the challenges of deteriorating relationships; a relationship where the partners once cherished one another suddenly takes a "U-turn" to become one where they love to be left alone when he said,

"Worst part about it is you never went to bed without me
And now you always wanna be alone, no."

The relevance of communication in relationships cannot be overemphasized. Once there's a bridge in communication, it's literally laying foundation for relationship collapse.

Brown was exploring how they were trapped in their relationship with none of them willing to take the blame when he was saying,

"How we turn this house we live in to a prison?
Guess you wish you never fell in love with me."

And these happens when the communication is affected and grudge building skyrockets.

Ambitions and expectations are very amazing not just in relationships but in life. However, problems arises when become overly ambitious. We should be able to set realistic goals in relationships as they become burden when we fail to reach our goals making our relationship ls feel like illusions

But beyond the lyrical messages the song offers, it is one with a perfect blend of beats, vocals, sounds and smooth rhythmic flow.
Brown's vocals was perfectly reflecting a voice of one who's filled with regret and realization of someone who has entered a relationship he shouldn't have.

What makes Delusional stand out for me was it's shared responsibility. It wasn't just dwelling on the pain that comes with heartbreaks, but Brown through his wonderful rendition makes relationship downfall a shared responsibility of both partners.

So now you've heard Brown's Delusional, it's an invitation to contemplate on the fine line between ambition and delusion in romantic relationship to avoid struggles that comes with entering a delusional one.
I enjoyed the song and I do hope you enjoy it amidst it's teachings too
