Nurturing Love.

Once again, I got the opportunity to witness the love of a mother in one of its purest forms today. On my way to my sister's place, I was the first passenger to board a particular tricycle. After waiting for close to fifteen minutes, another passenger approached with a baby strapped to her front.

Instinctively, I moved to give her more room and once she was settled, I looked in her direction and noticed her baby was staring at me. I assumed it was just a brief stare but till the woman alighted the tricycle, the baby was looking in my direction.

Babies looking in a strangers direction can be a good thing or a bad thing and as such, mothers tend to react differently. On a few occasions, the mother would turn the child's head in the opposite direction and ensure the head remains that way but this mother acted differently.

As she noticed her daughter was staring at me, she smiled and began a conversation with me. The way we chatted, one might have assumed that we were acquaintances. Aside from the engaging discussion, the mother made sure to give this baby a forehead kiss every now and then. For the approximately ten minutes we shared a tricycle, I felt the mother kissed the child over ten times and to me, this was just so adorable. However, the word ‘adorable’ doesn't cut it. That act could mean a lot of things with the demonstration of love and a guarantee of comfort being on the top of the list.

Psychology says that mother-child bonding time is pertinent for the proper mental development of a child. As such, it is not a crime to say that kids who grow up without proper demonstration of love, especially from their mothers, tend to encounter a lot of challenges ranging from attachment issues to low self-esteem, during the course of their life.

Disappointingly, I've heard of and even witnessed parents depriving their kids of love and some form of solace. There's this lady who owns a shop close to my house. She is the mother of a very lovely little boy but from the very first day the boy could form a proper sentence, she started maltreating the child. It wouldn't be anyone's business if this maltreatment remained indoors but even in public, she actively abuses and maltreats the child; making it everyone's business.

In other countries there are bodies set aside to prevent such things from happening but here, in my lovely country, nobody has the right to even tell you how to train your dragon child.

Nonetheless, there are mothers out there who constantly show love and support to their children; my mother being a trailblazer. Many times, the children in question are oblivious to their parents' sacrifices and devotion. A great parent could easily set aside their dreams and plans just to ensure their child is well taken care of, amongst other things.

The song “Rockabye” By Clean Bandit featuring Sean Paul and Annie-Marie is one produced to appreciate the mother. It is a song that reminds listeners that mothers, irrespective of how harsh they may be, are indeed angels. Angels that deserve to be appreciated.
