There are all sorts of financial chaos, emotional turmoil, physical turmoil, medical turmoil, spiritual storm, e.g. So many hearts battle with hidden tempests, floods that people can't see, they barely know what you're going through.
Life unfolds everyday and it doesn't happen by chance to live in peace. You can wait forever if you wait until your entire life calms before you have peace.
The mind is still functioning and good thoughts do not immediately reach the mind, particularly in difficult circumstances. The first idea is generally negative during this time.
It's not as if there isn't going to be hard times, rather God says he will give us peace in the middle of the storm. God never said we will have storms in life. You will still have calm, despite the storm, which passes every comprehension.
