OH! Oooooh! "Socmed" is short for Social Media, then?

While I see the problems in "centralization" I think there are many merits in centralized services, for one decision-making is much faster. I'd love it if both types co-existed.

They can co-exist if there are hundreds to thousands of smaller #SocialMedia platforms that are open source, and integrate with each other

Each platform could be owned by centralized owners but being open source, and cross integrating would still make the ecosystem decentralized

Yeah, the Fediverse is a lot different, but while the platform itself is very decentralized, the moderators have more control for what happens in their communities. Some people will like that more. Here, HIVE as a whole can influence smaller communities with downvotes/upvotes.
