Buzzing about our local #fruits like everyone else!

#Libya is full of Palm Trees, we have a different name for every type/stage of its fruit. The type in the photos is "بلح" but in English there's only the word "Date" referring to all types.

When I was a little girl we had two palm trees next to where we parked our car. So much fruit. I don't think we ever figured out the right way to eat them. So only the birds enjoyed them. Now as an adult, I wish I had date producing palm trees.

That's a funny story, and gives me a good vibes too. !LUV
Where was this? I assume it was in an area where Palm Trees aren't common?
Posted via D.Buzz
It was in South Texas which does have a fair share of palm trees. Where I live now in Central Texas does not. Although, I have occasionally seen the random palm tree in my area.

Didn't know that America had those too... Thanks for sharing this.

Yes it is... It's also sweeter than it looks.

Then it's great 😊 I wish I could taste it right now 😅🤤❤️

Oh . it's really nice to have that fruit here❤️
Posted via D.Buzz
I have yet to try this fruit
Posted via D.Buzz
Yes, you should!
Dates are pretty common in the Middle East & North Africa, so if you visited any country in that region, ask them to give you some.

I have eaten dried date .I really like it.
Cool to know that there are all these other kinds/states of dates with different names. Like the mango 🥭
Posted via D.Buzz
The Mango has one name here in Libya ("منغا" which ironically is pronounced "Manga.") I wonder how many other fruits have multiple names for variants in other cultures.

Oh I have never eaten any fresh dates before. Not sure what it tastes like. Hehe.
Posted via D.Buzz
I can't think of something that tastes like it to give it as example. It's sweet not sour, some have bitterness but not the ones in my country... If you visited the middle east, ask for some.
Dried dates are delicious too, so they don't have to be fresh to enjoy them~ !LUV

Haven't been there yet. Maybe in the future. Hehe. Thanks for the token!
