@samks gave me an early Christmas present today! ๐Ÿ˜ An ESSEE-4. The folks over at ESSEE make a damn fine knife. The edge needed a little attention, and that green coating needs to go, but I'm excited to put it to work! I'll post some updated pictures later.

I really like the color scheme and you know you can trade those for a different blade and you can swap the scales out too.

It's going to be near impossible for you to get that green coating off and it will absolutely reduce the corrosion resistance these knives are legendary for.

Congratulations on a really nice knife.

The coating they put on blades seems like it causes a lot of drag when you're cutting. That coating will definitely come off with the right stuff. Could write a tutorial on it ๐Ÿค”.

I've had other knives, like an Izula 2, that I've stripped and forced a patina on on. Never had a problem with rust with occasional maintenance. If I was anywhere around salt water, I would probably leave it, but I can count on one hand the times I've seen the beach. ๐Ÿ˜†

Price you pay to have a knife with bed liner put on it....
Lol

Please be careful when you're scrubbing that thing off. Although it sounds like you got some experience in refinishing blades.

I need to work on some knife making myself.

๐Ÿ˜† True. That's about what it is, it seems like.

Will do! Yea, guess you could say I've done it a time or two. I can't leave anything stock. I just have to make it my own.

Awesome! You make knives, or are you just getting into it?

I've made knives and edged weapons all my life. Actually I need to get off my lazy rump and start making more. And also starting on working with the tomahawk project since I got permission to do a specific design for my tomahawk.

So yep! I just been slacking.

Awesome! I know what you mean. I've dabbled a little. Have 2 knives laying around right now that I've been "working on" for about 10 years ๐Ÿคฃ. I understand. Started on them, the house ate them, they turned back up, but I was busy with other stuff....๐Ÿ˜ฎโ€๐Ÿ’จ

Love to see some of your projects sometime!

Oh the fireplace challenge. Had someone run his mouth at me that I couldn't make a knife. I drank back then and ego blew up.

Sourced a smooth face 4 lb hammer. As well as a chunk of railroad tie. A little bit of duct tape and a expendable metal tube attached to a hair dryer put on cold low. And of course that slid into the crack of the fireplace. Which had an extremely deep bed of coals because I had baked a ton of wood very carefully.

I ended up doing a perfect distal taper. Amazing job perfectly well done ready to grind.

However I'm really bad at hilts. And I didn't put any forging into hilt fittings. And it just stuck around forever. I'd come across it as well as enjoy the perfect distal taper. The lovely high-pitched ring that the excellent knife steel became after being worked heated and shaped.

Yeah I actually have my own design which ironically looks nothing like what I see from other individuals and while it has limitations it also has other functions.

Yes I absolutely need to get it moving.

Biggest part is I need to shut up and just throw a hilt on it and slap it quick sheath on because the excellent kydex holster systems have come a long way.

Yeah I absolutely got to start getting things done so I think I'm going to take out some time this weekend.
