Short story? I wish this were fiction, but every word comes directly from my lived experience in this inverted reality. There's no telling or exaggeration, only the bizarre truth of each passing moment. But I'm glad you find it suspenseful
I keep hoping the suspense will fade but it only builds with each new horror. My heart pounds constantly on edge in this place. I can only pray an escape from the suspense awaits soon...that perhaps I'll wake to find this was all just a vivid nightmare.
