This is in response to the blog post of @dbuzz regarding Dorothy Eady, the child who thought she was a reincarnation from someone in ancient Egypt.
The story about reincarnation is not about me but about my niece who was about 2 years old when the event that made me think about whether reincarnation is real or not.
There was a special occasion at home when this happened and her mom, my sister, asked me to take care of my niece, Arra, because she was cooking spaghetti for the celebration.
I was carrying her in my lap and was playing with her when someone caught her attention. There were visitors who came early and one of the visitors was a young boy, maybe 4 years old at that time. Arra's face turned red and she exclaimed to my surprise, "Pogi!" or "He's handsome".
I looked at her face and she even giggled when she said those words.
I called my Sister to report her daughter but Arra tried to cover my mouth with her two small hands as if telling me that what happened should be a secret between the two of us.
Until now, I cannot explain what happened. How can a 2-year-old child have a notion of crush and social disapproval? From then on, I jokingly refer to my niece as an old soul.
Arra is now Grade 6 when I tell her about that incident, she said she could not remember it.
