In Arabic we call it "باذنجان" (Ba-then-jan) and it means.... This vegetable. We even call this shade of purple "باذنجاني" after it.
EDIT: Oh. I was supposed to say: It doesn't mean anything, it just this vegetable name.

Oh yeah often considered vege but technically it's a fruit. Anyway whatever it is onething for sure i love to eat TORTANG TALONG 😄

Why most of the things we call veggies in Libya turn out to be fruits? (Tomatoes is another example here.)
