To be honest, I'd really like to leave it at the TLDR and crawl under something until this goes away, but I have a mess to clean up, so thanks for granting me a few more minutes of your time. I'm not taking it lightly.
This was intended to be a fun community outreach project. It wasn't intended to be a tool of harassment or spam and I'm unspeakably embarrassed at the position I've put myself in.
I've spent the past several days reflecting on the irritation you conveyed above and it's weighing on me very heavily. I really am very sorry for inflicting that on you. I was irresponsible and short-sighted, and I suspect it'll continue to weigh on me, long after you've forgotten.
I'd also like to express my gratitude. I have no doubt you could've made this lesson much harder, so I sincerely thank you for your restraint.
And for what it's worth, thanks for the warning shot to the tip account. I should have had enough foresight to have the dev code in a way for people to opt out. If for some reason I decide to try to keep it alive that'll be the next thing I have added to it. I'm very ashamed of my role in your experience and I shudder to think of it happening to others.

No doubt you have a lot of fun with it among your friends, but I guess you can see how it might be viewed negatively by those not in your circles.
I would recommend maybe having the bot do the reverse, and congratulate people who defeat you, and/or stating that the message is all in good fun and to allow people to opt out.

That's an interesting take. The first like it I've encountered, actually. Most people appreciate the playful community engagement, but if it bothers you I won't invite to you to play anymore.

I actually don't mind having a strongly moderated ecosystem inside of Hive that doesn't allow some things in their ecosystem & use force to enforce their beliefs. That is, as long as they only touch their own community.
