Maybe these people seek attention and can't get it any other way? Playing victim has to offer some benefit, otherwise no one plays.

I personally find it humiliating, I think it should be a balance in everything, and playing victim can be fine in one case or two, but not in every single aspect of a person's life.

I don't believe in playing the victim, either. It's also negative mental programming which ruins a person in the long run. Stuff happens in life, so we're all victims sooner or later; that's not the same thing as choosing to be a victim.

Maybe it soothes their conscience by blaming?

that could explain it, I guess in this particular case since this person tries to make everybody think that the "sacrifices" she made were not mistakes but great deeds... but, in my book that's completely off! I guess I'll only speculate about the truth beneath that behavior. Thank for the input!!!
