Plectranthus madagascariensis, también llamada incienso o planta del dinero, es una especie originaria de Sudafrica, Mozambique, Mauricio y Reunión, pero no es originaria de Madagascar como hace referencia su nombre científico. La planta actualmente está presente en zonas de clima cálido de ambos hemisferios, y es usada como planta ornamental.
La tradición dice que las Plectranthus (madagascariensis, verticulatus, etc) es una planta con el poder de atraer el dinero.
Plectranthus madagascariensis tiene propiedades medicinales y se usa como antiviral, antiinflamatorio y bactericida, etc.
