You know, sometimes when I'm lying in bed at night, I can't help but wonder what life will be like in 2050. I mean, I'll be much older then, but my kids (if I have any) will be working adults. It's both exciting and a little scary to think about! Let me share what's been going through my mind...

Our Phones vs. Future Devices

Remember when our parents told us stories about those huge mobile phones from the 1990s that looked like bricks? Well, I keep thinking that in 2050, our kids might laugh at our smartphones the same way!

"Mom/Dad, you actually had to HOLD your phone? That's so old school!" they might say.

I imagine people won't even carry phones anymore. Instead, maybe we'll wear super-light glasses or tiny earpieces that do everything our phones do now. Think about it - no more dropping your phone and cracking the screen (I did that last week, and my wallet is still crying! 😅). Instead of touching a screen, we might just move our fingers in the air to type, or simply think about what we want to do!

The Way We Work

This is the part that really gets my brain spinning at night. Right now, some of us work from home, some go to offices, and others work in factories or stores. But 2050? That could be totally different!

Offices might become rare, like those old phone booths we barely see anymore. Most people might work from special rooms in their homes with screens that make it feel like you're sitting right next to your coworkers, even if they're on the other side of the world! And travel? Oh boy! Right now, it takes hours to fly from Lagos to London. But in 2050, we might have super-fast planes that can do it in just 2 hours! Imagine having breakfast in Nigeria and lunch in England - that would be incredible!

Shopping and Food 🛒
Shopping malls might become more like showrooms where you try things on, but everything gets delivered to your home by small flying drones. And maybe we'll have smart fridges that order food for us before we even realize we're running low!

"Mom, the fridge just ordered more eggs!" might become a normal thing to hear at home.

But I hope we don't lose all our traditional markets and stores. There's something special about walking through a busy market, smelling fresh fruits, and chatting with the sellers. Some things are just better in person!

Houses in 2050 might be super smart - like having a brain of their own! They might adjust the temperature before we feel hot or cold, turn lights on and off as we move around, and even remind us to take our medicine.

This is the serious part that sometimes keeps me up at night. By 2050, we'll need to be much better at taking care of our planet. I imagine most houses will have solar panels, and maybe we'll have figured out how to clean up all the plastic in our oceans using special robots.

Cars might run on electricity or hydrogen instead of petrol, and we might have found ways to grow more food in smaller spaces using vertical farms in cities. Every roof might be a garden!
