On the Hive blockchain's first layer, HIVE is the actual cryptocurrency coin of Hive (much like BTC for Bitcoin and ETH for Ethereum). HBD is called the "debt" of the Hive blockchain to its holders, and is pegged to 1 USD. 🤓

On the other hand, SWAP.HIVE is one of many on Hive Engine tokens (similar to ERC-20 tokens on the Ethereum blockchain). You need to convert HIVE to SWAP.HIVE first (where 1 HIVE is always equal to 1 SWAP.HIVE, minus applicable fees) to be able to trade Hive Engine tokens (such as the popular DEC/SPS/VOUCHER by #Splinterlands, LEO by #LeoFinance, STARBITS by #RisingStar, etc.). 🤓
