As long as you're not a whale, self voting isn't really something to worry about. If it's just a few cents or less, no one is going to care. It's when it's $$-$$$+ in rewards that can get you in hot water with people. In other words, I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Some of them say that self-voting (even at tiny amounts like 1%) is something you won't do in conventional social media platforms. Some have even produced dapps that count how many times a Hive user has upvoted their own posts and comments.

People self vote via bots etc all the time on conventional social media, lol

If a single person uses an alternate Hive account (especially with significant Hive Power) to upvote the posts and comments of their primary account, it is practically still self-voting but is hard to detect (especially when the upvoting account does not have posts or comments). By the way, on conventional social media, autovoting bots are normally prohibited.
