22nd of June 2016

in Discovery-it2 years ago

I spent the afternoon in Marlera on the 22nd of June 2016.

(Enlargeable)

Marlera is the name of the coastal area a couple of kilometers from the village called Liznjan, about five to eight kilometers from my hometown.

I took quite a few photographs on that occasion, and I choose to show you an insect at the beginning of the post.

(Enlargeable)

This is the Mediterranean stick insect (Bacillus rossius)

These two lovely flowers belong to the Convolvulus arvensis plant. In the following photograph ...

... you can see a fly on the Convolvulus arvensis flower.

A minute later the same fly was posing on the nearby grass. The grass was dry and tall.

When it comes to that fly, I can't tell you the name of the species. The family is Conopidae.

Here you can see the only yellow leaf surrounded by green fern and heather.

The leaf that stands out from the rest of the vegetation belongs to the Pteridium aquilinum fern.

Here you can see a lark. The Alaudala rufescens. Commonly known as the Mediterranean short-toed lark.

The beautiful butterfly, shown in this and the following photograph ...

... is the Gonepteryx cleopatra.

Here you can see a sawfly on the Eryngium campestre plant. Can't tell you what sawfly is this. I mean, I haven't found the name of the species on the Internet, but ...

... but I can tell you that the fly shown in this and the previous photograph is a female busy laying eggs on the Eryngium campestre flowerhead.

(Enlargeable)

In this photograph, you can see a bunch of Calystegia silvatica flowers.

(Enlargeable)

In many places in Marlera, this lovely, very decorative climbing plant covers the shrubs and small trees.

As you can see, I spent some time observing the Calystegia silvatica plants 22nd of June 2016.

This Eupholidoptera schmidti bushcricket was resting on the Scolymus hispanicus plant.

This is the Tyta luctuosa, a small moth from the Noctuidae family.

Here you can see another small species from the Noctuidae family. The Acontia trabealis.

Among many photographs that show the plants and animals in the sunny summer atmosphere of Marlera ...

... I also found this little heart-shaped thing made of dog or cat hairs. This isn't an outdoor shot. The hairy heart was photographed on the dusty floor of my room. With the following photograph ...

... I'm in Marlera again. Here you can see a bunch of interesting plants ...

... that were growing in the muddy place that was once a shallow pool of brackish water.

These are the young shoots of the Arthrocnemum macrostachyum plant.

(Enlargeable)

Some hours later ...

... I photographed another brackish pool near the sea.

(Enlargeable)

This one hasn't evaporated yet.

Here you can see a Syrphidae fly drowned in the shallow water.

The bubbles on the surface looked pretty cool.

So I took a couple of shots in which those bubbles are the main protagonists.
But that was in the evening. Right now ...

... I wanna show you more photographs taken earlier that afternoon.

(Enlargeable)

Here you can see a group of pinky flowers in the green grass of the meadow very close to the sea.

These are the flowers of the Centaurium erythraea plant.

Here you can see a mating pair of Carpocoris purpureipennis shield bugs.

This is the flower of the Echium italicum plant.

Here you see the seeds in the opened seed pod of some plant that I wasn't able to identify.

(Enlargeable)

This is a detail from another plant that I'm not able to identify. In this case, you can see the shape of the seeds in the closed, semi-translucent seed pod.

In this photograph, the focus is on the wild carrot (Daucus carota).

Here you can see the grasshoppers mating.

The name of the species is Locusta migratoria.

The females often lay eggs in the fust by the side of the unpaved roads that lead along the beaches of that area.

This photograph was taken at sunset.

Probably the most beautiful part of that long summer day.

You can see a silhouette of the thorny Scolymus hispanicus plant in the foreground of this shot.

In this chaotic composition, you can see plenty of tall, dried-out grass from the coastal meadows.

Here you can take a more up-close look at that grass.

As the sun was sinking into the clouds above the western horizon ...

(Enlargeable)

... the golden disc was visible as a bunch of shiny spots of light.

Half an hour later ...

... I was looking at the moon.

And that's it.

AS ALWAYS HERE ON HIVE, THE PHOTOGRAPHS ARE MY WORK.

THE END.

It's really impressive that you have stored this many photographs on your computer :P You are a true photography lover. Is the heart shape made by hair created by itself or you have made it?

I found that heart-like thing already created.

I remembered that 1st insect, we called that in our dialect kahoy-kahoy (kahoy means tree) as it was good in camouflaging. You won't noticed it easily especially when it stays on the twigs of branches.

Oh my God I can't believe on my eyes. Like I'm a photographraphy lover too but even I didn't have much photos of nature then you have only in one post. You had great memories indeed. I got inspiration from you that I've to save something for coming year's. It's soo fascinating even to saw your pictures what if I'll have my own.
Amazing job dude !

Aa stick insects 🧐 I wish I could hide away like that! Or the butterfly, I'll gladly be one of those as well. It's a good thing to pay attention when one is outside, you'll never know what you'll find hiding away.

La 🦋 Verde luce encantadora .un contraste muy hermoso con la vegetación.

I wonder how you got to know the name of the flowers.
I wish I have the knowledge too.
That is a good one and you have taken beautiful pictures too

You can find the name of the flowers on the Internet. 😀 if you have the picture. I often use this application. https://identify.plantnet.org/hr

Wow - loving the stick insect and the butterfly with the green wings. I cant believe how close those wings look to actual leaves. Incredible !

!LOLZ I have to take a look twice at your first photo to realize the stick insect in it. That shows how well their camouflage, isn't it? it look like a busy summer where all the insect are mating. Awesome shots and story as usual my friend.
