That's cool. I wish we had more stuff like that here in the States. I mean, I guess that week between Christmas and New Years is sort of like that, but most of the retail people have to work, so then again... Plus, you can't really go away anywhere because you usually have to spend time with your family :P Unless you dig that sort of thing :). Oh funny story, I was reading an article the other day about the ten most invasive species of plants you shouldn't put in your garden. Wisteria was one of them.

Public holidays is one area Japan beats America. We get something like a solid month of public holidays here, often more. It's pretty nice. There is another week long holiday in August, and New Years is also a week. I was reading a few weeks or so ago that these days on average Americans work much longer than Japanese, which may not be so surprising when we think about it, but does go against that stereotype we have of 80s Japan.
haha so I guess gotta be careful if you grow it. Isn't bamboo also pretty invasive? I remember my mom loved some of the photos I sent of bamboo forests and wanted to grow a small grove, but after researching decided it would be too hard to keep it from spreading to their entire yard.
yeah, bamboo was another one for sure. They say if you are going to grow it you need to put it in some kind of container otherwise it will spread like crazy and even if you cut it down it grows back so fast. I was watching Emily in Paris with my wife a while back and I really love the work ethic they had in that show. No coming in early, no talking about work at social gatherings. It seems like a healthy separation!
