Very nice guilty pleasure Bozz. Sometimes you have to give in to them.. I quite like the Niel Diamond tune at the end too. I am not sure that I have heard it before.
Oh, it is fantastic. His live versions of that one are always the best. I was going to go with Solitary Man, but then I was like nope, I have to do Brother Love's Traveling Salvation Show.
I get what you are saying about Tom Petty. He wasn't much of a lyricist. But he was able to set the few words he did write in such a way to make them so catchy. I never rated him too highly, and probably still wouldn't, but there are so many catchy lines of his that just pop up at random times.
For sure, he could write a tune. Plus he was part of the Willoughby's, so that is pretty cool too. When I was younger I was probably more of a fan of his relative!
Yeah, I can see that. It's funny how much it blows people's minds sometimes when you tell them you aren't much of a fan of Petty. Respect and appreciate him, but not a huge fan. They freak out!

Cool playlist. We are taking a road trip this summer (flying to Texas and then driving to Colorado). We're definitely going to have to figure out some tunes to listen to!
That sounds like an awesome trip! I want to get back to Colorado one day! You are going to be covering a lot of awesome landscape! Choose your songs wisely!
Too true! I haven't been to Colorado in years, so it will all be like new to me. We live at the base of a volcano and have an amazing view daily, so I'm wondering how it will compare. The kids want to see snow...in July. 😅
If you go high enough you might be good. Probably depends on the part of Colorado you visit. I went in the summer many years ago to Fort Collins. It was a blast.
What is it about those first few days of Spring that make you want to roll down the windows and crank up the stereo? I always appreciate those first few days of warmth so much. Years ago we had a great jazz station out of Minneapolis and I can remember always wanting to play that music in the spring. Something about the freedom of improvisational jazz just paired so well with the season.
For sure! Makes me think of this Freddie Hubbard tune:
I also think jazz fits really well with snowy nights by the fire with a bourbon in your hand! Jazz fits any occasion really. I went to the Jazz and Ribs festival one year in downtown Columbus. Talk about an amazing experience!
I've just come from @jasperdick's post about Johnny Clegg and the last thing I listened to was a song from 1978, then boom I land here and the first song I listen to is from 1978 and legends that were Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, synchronicity or what!!
Anyway, great way to start of any trio of tunes, but driving tunes, absolutely, an absolute belter of a tune!
You know, those songs that you can't help but crank up loud and sing along with anytime they come on the radio. Imagine speeding down the highway, windows down, wind in your hair, arm out the window, belting out the lyrics like a drunk fool during Friday night Karaoke.
Wow,that is quite the coincidence! I am sure I could make a whole playlist of songs that fit the bill for this one. It would definitely take more than three songs!

Funny you mention them. Petty always reminded me so much of George Harrison. Great player, simple but catchy lyrics, even a similar singing style.
Yeah, I can see that. It's funny how much it blows people's minds sometimes when you tell them you aren't much of a fan of Petty. Respect and appreciate him, but not a huge fan. They freak out!
I know. So I avoid that by just not saying my opinion about him a lot. haha

Bad medicine is one of my favorites from Bon Jovi.
Oh I wish I could drive with my window down but all the freaking rain would get in.
What a shitty spring we have here.
That sucks. Ours hasn't been too bad, but the cold weather has been hanging around longer than a lot of people would like.
Global warming :))
come on mate, update your information Billie Jean by Michael Jackson was elected as the most danced song ever
But would you belt it out driving down the road with your windows down? While it is a great song, for me that is a big no.

Oh yeah, that is awesome! I used to love the Jazz & Rib fest. Columbus knows how to do a festival, that's for sure!
You ever make it to the Irish festival over in Dublin? That one is cool too!
I've never made it to that but it sounds like something I'd like!

Bon Jovi is my guy😅
A good one at that... Beautiful discoveries I must say
Yeah, he is pretty awesome. I have seen him in concert two or three times. My wife has seen him more than that. Thank you!
Wow... Really
