Carreras de caballos que fino, excelente 😉😀.

Out traditional family game is Newmarket, which is also based on horse racing, but just uses cards. We use sweets/candy for betting and someone always ends up with lots whilst others have nothing. Bananagrams is a word making game a little like Scrabble. My sister's family have lots of board games including Ticket to Ride. We have a few old ones, but play them less since the kids grew up.

Do they have the US version of Ticket to Ride or the one that has the map from over there? I have played my fair share of Scrabble against @mrsbozz. We used to play weekly when we were first married. I have heard of Banangrams before. Great stuff!

I think you can get the various versions of that game in the UK. There are shops full of games and game cafés.

That is cool. We have a lot of tap rooms that have board games for people to play while they are enjoying a pint. It's kind of a cool concept.

Boardgames are great. Have you guys ever tried Rummikub? We've been playing that since I was a little kid. We usually do a variant of the official rules to allow more matches (for example, I'm told that offically you can't vertically chain a straight to a horizontal three or four of a kind, but we allow that in our rules).

As for cards, when I was a kid we always played crazy eights, but then when I got older we switched to hearts. Hearts can be ruthless but is a lot of fun.

I've never played Hearts except on the computer. In my neck of the woods the big card game is Euchre. That's like a Michigan staple. I have played Rummikub before, but it has been quite a while. @mrsbozz and I often play Phase 10 against each other and Five Crown. She like Skipbo too.

Playing games is one of the best ways to bring us together
I actually love how you and your extended family relate
It is very good...

Thanks! They are a good group of people. The drive me crazy sometimes, but I love them!

Hubby doesn't like boardgames which is annoying, I mean I don't play a lot but I do like to do something different sometimes apart from holding the mobile phone. I've been playing Uno Flip with my family recently, and one of my 6 year great nephews have loads of board games as his mum wants to keep him away from the screen, some of games are really good!

It's pretty crazy some of the board games they have out these days. I've seen so many of them that have unique twists and really make you have to use your brain. It's almost like a classic RPG. Five Crown is a card game that we have really started to enjoy. If you get the chance you should check it out!

Looks like you are teaching them gambling from an early age. It is pretty cool they are into games and it seems that she has a large family!

Yeah, the adults usually have to stake for the littles, but I was giving my nephew a dollar here and there through the week so he could have his own seed money. There were sixteen of us and it can get quite loud when someones horse is about to win!

I Like how you guys bend the rules like on the train game in order to accommodate more players. Im like that too. The more the merrier.

Yeah, with sixteen people you have to be flexible otherwise the kids (or is it the adults?) start crying!

Played a lot of dominoes back in the day, but not familiar with that Mexican Train variation.

Here in Japan "Daifugo" is a fun party game that uses a standard deck of playing cards and can accomodate quite a large group of players: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daifug%C5%8D

If the numbers are right - 3-5 people per table - then I'd opt for mahjong as a sociable party-gambling game!

My wife plays Mahjong with her mom and aunts. They usually get together about once a month and spend a morning playing. I am sure the dominoes variation we play has other names. That's just what they call it. I will check out that other game you mentioned!

BTW, I checked out that YouTube clip of Boyz n the Hood. I hadn't heard of it so I ended up watching it on Netflix last night. Thanks.

It's a good movie. An absolute classic! So many famous actors in it too.

I love how everyone was included even if it was meant to accommodate fewer people.
Family is everything ☺️

It definitely is!

My brother used to be very much into board game. They used to have weekend worth of the board game nights. And we used to enjoy some of the time with the friends who are not with us anymore. Since pandemic a lot of those things are missed. It's good to see you guys are enjoying such times.

I'm sorry to hear that. It sounds like it was a very memorable time for you!

Wow, those are some neith games. When we play games it's often a boardgame. It calls "Mens erger je niet" and don't know if it's a typical dutch game. You have four pawns, you have to throw a die. This way you have to cross the entire board, when you come to a place where someone else is already standing, they have to go back to the beginning with that pawn.

Interesting. I have never heard of that before. I was looking at a game called Klask a while ago. Have you ever heard of that? I think that is what it is called. It looked a lot like air hockey.

Yep, love a good game nite if done right and it looks like you're doing it right. I think I've played Ticket to Ride once or twice. We have a few Rio Grande Games which are usually the favourites.

There's money on the table for that horse racing game. Giddy Up!

Yeah, I'd guess there was at least $100 in that stack. When you have so many people playing it adds up fast! Those sound like some really interesting games! We usually have a standing game of Risk going too.

The horse racing game looks fun. I haven't seen a game like that before. You're right, a bit pricey, but would make a good family type of game.

It's so amazing. You don't even have to play for money, it's just a great time. You could just play for chips that have zero value. It's like you are really at the track when people start cheering for their horse to win.
