Hello Dear friends ! Today I would like to present you a Dutch painter Paulus Potter ( 1625 – 1654 ). Although he only lived to the age of 28, Potter made an original contribution to the already established genre of animal painting. He observed directly from nature, and his compositions do not seem to be related to those of other artists. Indeed his ability as a landscape artist is often ignored as landscape usually forms a subordinate element in his pictures, but his observation of rain-soaked and sunlit distances and the fall of light on trees is stunning.

Potter must have worked immensly hard in his short life, as he left behind a relatively large numbers of paintings. He also made several etchings of animals which are of very high quality.
