May be not everybody knows of the existence of a small town, in Latium region, province of Latina, where the ancient Roman ruins are land of paragliders...
Norma, or Norba, as it was originally named by Romans, is located on a mountain and was funded in the V cent. bC. Today, where the
National Archeological Park stands, there are always many paragliders practicing and launching because the mountain of Norba faces the huge flat area of the Pontine plain.
It is very common to see, from above, many paragliders flying over the Pointine plain, especially in Spring and Fall when the air is clean and the wind and current are good enough. It is quite beautiful to admire how they silently take over the sky, like they were mute birds, all colored and absolutely fierce of their kite. I have always found them majestic, even though to think about staying so up in the sky makes me a little disconfortable.
We stayed long to admire the paragliders flying here and there around us, we were absolutely absorbed by their dancing in the air. Also, we took just a right timing because the sun was almost setting and the lights and breeze were so perfect, even to look at and photograph the small town on the mountains.
In that moment, the sun was giving me a good chance to take great photos: sometimes I think nature knows what I want and just pleases me, grants me, allowing me to take as many pictures as I want, the way I want to. Thank you, nature!
The day was almost over and in my mind I kept thinking, while keeping watching the outstanding beauty of that sport... "Well, I will never do it!"
Have you ever tried to do paragliding? I already brought up this topic before on hive, in one of my posts, but may be someone else in the meantime found him/her self approaching this sport and has some more feedback to share.
Personally, I still think it is excessive for me, for I am so used to be in the water swimming or in the gym lifting weights... being in the air, flying high, is not my thing, really! Hahah!

Antica città romana, ora piattaforma di lancio per parapendio
Forse non tutti sanno dell'esistenza di un piccolo paese, nel Lazio, in provincia di Latina, dove le antiche rovine romane sono terra di parapendio...
Norma, o Norba, come era chiamata originariamente dai romani, si trova su un monte e fu fondata nel V sec. a.C. Oggi, dove sorge il
Parco Nazionale Archeologico , sono sempre tanti i parapendisti che fanno pratica e si lanciano proprio da lì, perché la montagna di Norba si affaccia sulla gande area pianeggiante dell'agro pontino.
È molto comune vedere, dal basso, molti parapendio che sorvolano la pianura pontina, soprattutto in primavera e autunno quando l'aria è pulita e il vento e la corrente sono abbastanza buoni. È molto bello ammirare come si impossessano silenziosamente del cielo, come se fossero uccelli muti, tutti colorati e assolutamente fieri del loro aquilone. Li ho sempre trovati maestosi, anche se pensare di stare così in alto mi mette un po' a disagio.
Siamo rimasti a lungo ad ammirare i parapendii che volavano qua e là intorno a noi, eravamo assolutamente assorbiti dal modo in cui sembravano ballare in aria. D'altronde siamo stati fortunati e abbiamo beccato il momento perfetto perché il sole stava quasi tramontando e le luci e la brezza erano così perfette, anche per guardare e fotografare la cittadina sulle montagne.
Adoro fotografare le persone quando non sanno che lo sto facendo! Ma a volte, @castles si girava verso di me e mi beccava a scattargli una foto... e sembrava essere un po' i.nfastidito... Ma non mi importava, onestamente hahah
In quel momento, il sole mi stava dando una buona occasione per fare belle foto: a volte penso che la natura sappia quello che voglio e semplicemente mi allieta, mi appaga, concedendomi le condizioni perfette che mi permettano di scattare tante foto come voglio, quante ne voglio. Grazie, natura!
La giornata era quasi finita e nella mia mente continuavo a pensare, guardando costantemente la straordinaria bellezza di quello sport... "Beh, non lo farò mai!"
Hai mai provato a fare parapendio? Ho già sollevato questo argomento prima su hive, in uno dei miei post, ma potrebbe essere che qualcun altro nel frattempo si è trovato ad avvicinarsi a questo sport e ha qualche feedback in più da condividere in merito.
Personalmente, penso ancora che sia eccessivo per me, perché sono così abituata a nuotare in acqua o a stare in palestra a sollevare pesi... stare in aria, volare in alto, non credo faccia proprio al caso mio, davvero! Ahah!
