I always promise myself I would be more consistent with my blog posting in the Hive community, for several reasons: my pictures deserve to see the light, my photography deserves to be seen and shared within a community that can give me feedback, which in the end it is the best way to improve. Unfortunately, I don't always keep this promise, due to the lack of time mostly. The past months have been very tough for me, for private life, work, and general commitments that took a lot of my time.
However, today I want to share with you all a selection of pictures I took the first time I went to Milan, which happened to be roughly last year in this period.
I went to visit my friend Silvia and her family, who live in the hinterland of Milan city; they hosted me and made me feel like home, such a sweet and lovely family they are! I was lucky enough to catch some good light and weather for a decent street photography weekend, walking around the city, and exploring beautiful spots together with Silvia, who led me and made it such an unforgettable weekend!
You should know that there is a historical competition between Rome and Milan, and between Romans and people from Milan; there is a "arrogant" joke Romans are used to making, that goes like this: "The best thing about Milan is the train back to Rome".
As a Roman, I was continuously exposed to my fellow citizens' negative opinion about Milan being too small, with no interesting things to see and visit, cold and grey... I personally found Milan simply beautiful, and I hope you can see the reason why throughout the journey told by my pictures in this post.
As a tourist visiting a city for the first time, and especially as a Roman, of course I have to admit that Milan is not big, or at least, compared to Rome it's quite tiny. However, I don't consider this as a negative aspect; indeed, Silvia and I were able to visit almost the entire city without taking transportations, and just walking around, which made the tour extremely pleasant! On the other hand, big cities such as Rome are almost impossible to visit entirely only on foot... it'd be more like a marathon than a nice walk tour!
The particular light of the early Fall days provided my camera with a perfect combination of soft colors and light contrast, which in the end, made me so happy to take these shots! I was completely enthusiasts by the fact that everything in the city was perfectly reachable as at walking distance, and this gave me a lot of opportunities to live and experience the city at its full.

Something I really appreciate about Milano is the way natural beauties, such as the Park of Sempione, and architectures are combined together, and they give to the city an aura of perfection. The city looks very structured and ordered, which is something that in Rome we miss a lot!
We only had a couple of days so Silvia suggested we visit Monza which was indeed very worthy! This is the location of the town of Monza: [//]:# (!pinmapple 45.46274 lat 9.19544 long d3scr)
Different from Milan, Monza is extremely calm and quiet, super ordered and clean, and you will breath the air of richness! Indeed, Monza is considered to be one of the richest towns around Milan, and you will see this if you just walk around and look at the locals' outfits, cars, or simply at the kind of shops that are open in the main shopping street... super rich!
However, Silvia was absolutely right as Monza is very beautiful especially for its Park and its Cathedral; this last one appears to you all of a sudden, while you are touring around the streets of the center... the sight of the facade will leave you speechless, and the interior is even more unexpectedly amazing. Such a marvelous combination of Romanic, Gothic, and other styles, give this church a magnificent look that you could hardly see elsewhere. Definitely, you don't want to miss this visit!
I hope you enjoyed this gallery, and I hope even more that I will be able to post more often in the following weeks, because I have many many photos of my trips that I still need to work on and give light to, and it'd be such a shame to leave them unveiled.

Prometto sempre a me stessa che sarò più costante nel pubblicare i miei post nel blog della community di Hive, per diversi motivi: le mie foto meritano di vedere la luce, la mia fotografia merita di essere vista e condivisa all'interno di una community che può darmi feedback, che alla fine è il modo migliore per migliorare. Purtroppo non sempre mantengo questa promessa, soprattutto per mancanza di tempo. Gli ultimi mesi sono stati molto duri per me, sia per la vita privata, sia per il lavoro, sia per gli impegni in generale che hanno preso molto del mio tempo.
Tuttavia, oggi voglio condividere con tutti voi una selezione di foto che ho scattato la prima volta che sono stata a Milano, più o meno l'anno scorso in questo periodo.
Sono andata a trovare la mia amica Silvia e la sua famiglia, che vivono nell'hinterland della città di Milano; mi hanno ospitato e mi hanno fatto sentire come a casa, sono una famiglia così dolce e adorabile! Ho avuto la fortuna di trovare un po' di bella luce e bel tempo per un discreto fine settimana di street photography, passeggiando per la città ed esplorando posti meravigliosi insieme a Silvia, che mi ha guidato e ha reso il fine settimana davvero indimenticabile!
Dovete sapere che esiste una competizione storica tra Roma e Milano, e tra romani e milanesi; c'è una battuta "arrogante" che sono soliti fare i romani, che recita così: "La cosa più bella di Milano è il treno per tornare a Roma".
Da romana sono continuamente esposto al giudizio negativo dei miei concittadini che considerano Milano troppo piccola, senza cose interessanti da vedere e da visitare, fredda e grigia... Milano l'ho trovata personalmente semplicemente bellissima, e spero che possiate capirne il motivo durante tutto il viaggio raccontato dalle mie foto in questo post.
Come turista che visita una città per la prima volta, e soprattutto come romana, ovviamente devo ammettere che Milano non è grande, o almeno rispetto a Roma è piuttosto piccola. Questo però non lo considero un aspetto negativo; infatti io e Silvia abbiamo potuto visitare quasi tutta la città senza prendere mezzi di trasporto, ma semplicemente passeggiando, il che ha reso il tour estremamente piacevole! D'altronde le grandi città come Roma sono quasi impossibili da visitare interamente solo a piedi... sarebbe più una maratona che una bella passeggiata!
La luce particolare dei primi giorni autunnali ha fornito alla mia macchina fotografica una perfetta combinazione di colori tenui e morbido contrasto, che alla fine mi ha reso così felice di scattare queste foto! Ero completamente entusiasta del fatto che tutto in città fosse perfettamente raggiungibile a piedi, e questo mi ha dato moltissime opportunità di vedere e vivere la città al massimo.

Una cosa che apprezzo molto di Milano è il modo in cui le bellezze naturali, come il Parco Sempione, e le architetture si uniscano insieme, e donino alla città un'aurea di perfezione. La città si presenta molto strutturata e ordinata, cosa che a Roma ci manca molto!
Diversa da Milano, Monza è estremamente calma e silenziosa, super ordinata e pulita, e si respira aria di ricchezza! In effetti, Monza è considerata una delle città più ricche intorno a Milano, e ve ne accorgerete se semplicemente passeggiate e guardante gli abiti e le macchine dei locali, o semplicemente il tipo di negozi che sono aperti nella principale via dello shopping. ... super lusso!
Comunque Silvia aveva perfettamente ragione a farmela visitare, in quanto Monza è molto bella soprattutto per il suo Parco e il suo Duomo; quest'ultimo vi appare all'improvviso, mentre girate per le vie del centro... la vista della facciata vi lascerà senza parole, e l'interno è ancora più inaspettatamente sorprendente. Una così meravigliosa combinazione di stili romanico, gotico e moltri altri, conferisce a questa chiesa un aspetto magnifico che difficilmente potreste vedere altrove. Sicuramente non volete perdervi questa visita!
Spero che questa gallery vi sia piaciuta, e spero ancora di più di poter postare più spesso nelle prossime settimane, perché ho tantissime foto dei miei viaggi che devo ancora pubblicare, lavorarci e dar loro luce, e sarebbe un vero peccato lasciarli nel buio.
