Good morning everyone, today I would like to share with you my personal experience in using Horse Chestnut as a phytotherapeutic remedy.
Description: deciduous tree.
Minimum cultivation temperature: -15 °C.
Balsamic period: September.
Toxicity: high, the fruits are very toxic. Do not take Aesculus hippocastanum supplements during pregnancy and breastfeeding, always consult a doctor before taking phytotherapeutic preparations based on this plant.
Beneficial properties: trichophilic and vasoprotective.
Confirmed activities: advancement.
Active ingredients: escin, aphrodescin, esculoside and quercetol.
PREPARATIONS
Bud derivative: prepared with 12.5 g of fresh buds, macerated for 21 days in 100 ml of glyceric solution (50 ml of glycerol, 35 ml of 96° alcohol and 15 ml of water). The filtrate can be preserved for 3 years, for the trichophilic function (topical use).
Gemmoderivative: prepared with 12.5 g of fresh buds, macerated for 21 days in 100 ml of glyceric solution (50 ml of glycerol, 35 ml of 96° alcohol and 15 ml of water). The filtrate can be preserved for 3 years, 60 drops per day for the vasoprotective function.
NOTE
Chestnuts, if ingested, can be fatal for children.
The name comes from the false belief that the fruits of the plant were the best remedy for curing horses' coughs.

NOTA
Le castagne se ingerite possono essere mortali per i bambini.
Il nome deriva dalla falsa credenza che i frutti della pianta fossero il miglior rimedio per curare la tosse dei cavalli.
