After two hard weeks of work at the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg, there were two more exhausting weeks. Last week, the last week of our three-week assignment in Hamburg, was another tough one.
With thunderstorms, rain, storms, snow and a thunderstorm as close as I have ever been, my past week was adventurous and dangerous. I could hear the crackling of the thunderstorm through a video recording I did. The video isn't particularly spectacular, but I'll tell you one thing, it's a big difference to be right in the middle of it and at risk of being struck by lightning instead of seeing a video of it, or rather hearing it.
There were incidents, one major injury and several minor ones, as well as an unpleasant event that happened in parallel.
But we have mastered the task.
The top team did it again.

That's why I earned myself total relaxation last weekend. Lots of chocolate and my first bigger meeting this year with some good friends. But battles were fought here as well and we had tough unfair fights in the world of Magic the Gathering.
Stuffed with chocolate and under protracted sieges, I couldn't make any pictures.

On Monday I had my refresher course where I met a good long-time work colleague and friend, who is my trainer by now.
This refresher course is necessary once a year for my climbing certification in order to meet a variety of requirements.
Coincidentally, there was an engineer from the same company that I wanted to meet and engage with for the RomotionCam project that same week.

On Monday evening I felt all my adventures the past weeks, whether Magic the Gathering, working at the limit in crazy weather conditions, next to danger and at heights, the refreshing course, I fell asleep quite early. Even the next day, it wasn't until Tuesday evening that I realised I missed Kvinna's Monday MeetUp.
A real shame. I even had left a comment that I'll make it this time.
Anyway, next time. But before that, the Swamp MeetUp in Berlin, which I'm looking forward to.

This week changed quite spontaneously, as the company where I do my refresher course needed help with a glass cleaning in the center of Berlin.
And there is a lot to do. Challange accepted!

Herausforderung angenommen!

IMG_20230406_090207.jpg

Another challenge on Thursday, however, I had to drop out and help another company, which I pledged myself to. Poster change. That being said, I actually had an appointment with the engineer and the RomotionCams. But that wasn't all.

Easter Egg 🐰 or an April fools hangover 😂

On the same day, a kind of emergency call came for a first inspection of the boiler in Berlin's power plant. That would have happened at Easter, on Friday and Saturday. But as quickly as it came in, it was canceled just as quickly on the following day.
A little mess.

As a result, I had to row in this little hustle. Moving my equipment to different places, which isn't easy at the moment. My car, which broke down on the way from Barcelona to Berlin, has now arrived at my trusted workshop in Blankenburg, but it is still being treated. Going by motorcycle and bicycle can be frustrating. Definitely with so much equipment packed, it's often a head turner on the road. Motorcyclists with approx 200 m ropes and various climbing equipment on the motorcycle's back. In addition, I have a peculiarly driving style. This is probably due to my very first motorcycle trip, in Asia, where I learned to ride a motorcycle.

Oh well, motorcycling.

A little detour...

Now that I have a sponatneous weekend off, I was able to enjoy a bonfire with friends and recall my motorcycle trip in asia.

Two weeks have passed since my last post. I've made it my goal to post at least once a week. But I definitely hang around too much and swing too often between different jobs.
In addition, I still have the difficult task of choosing a suitable community to put my posts in.
There are many photos that I would like to share with the PhotographyLover community (@hive-194913) as well as with the DACH community because I wrote some phrases that I really like in German. There are also memories from trips and great places for Pinmapple. The Worklife Community (@hive-195880) fits because it's about my job, which isn't a common job and offers many times adventurous perspectives.

How can I point you to a post that I think is appropriate, but also has appropriate content for other communities and has already posted there?

Wow! Amazing! That flew past me 😅
Thank you 🙏🏽😉

Awesome work @growandbow! Your dedication and hard work are making a big impact on Hive. Keep buzzing!

Omg I almost fainted seeing that picture of you standing so high up in the sky in Asia. So high!

Hopefully, the injured of your team are ok now? It seems like it's a very dangerous job sometimes and must be scary at times as well. I hope for you and your team that it comes with some extra pay for the risk you're taking :)

And don't feel bad about skipping some days/weeks, it happens to all of us, and fully understandable!

Take care!

I don't know if that's good or not, to make people faint 🤣😉

Yes, we are all recovered and fine again. Thank you.
And yes, we got some extra money for that kind of jobs. Though, times have changed.

Thank you for your comment 🙏🏽

Yikes!!! That second image is so hair-raising, you really have to put all your faith in the equipment, I can never do that! I was walking over a metal grate drain yesterday measuring less than 1m wide, with water gushing past underneath. I was petrified that I'd fall through it 😅

I feel you. Did you have any fall protection on that metal grate drain? 😉

Yes, faith is a part of our daily work life. But control is a bigger one in it. With at least two, sometimes multiple rope systems and appropriate safety measures, like always a backup system for the backup, plus a good understanding of hazards, you can make it very save. Statistically, more accidents happen on stairs and ladders, or way to wide openings in metal grate drains 😉
Nevertheless, it is a great thrill, hanging so high up. You need faith. I'm a believer 😆

Hello, @growandbow !

What a spectacular view you always bring us in your posts! I just said it before, and I continue to say it... I couldn't perform your job, even if I was only 40 meters from ground! I have a fear of heights! I can say it it has a small traumatic event that I had when I was a child... I remember when I was very very small child (less then 4 years old... and I can recall it because I didn't had a brother back then, he is 4 years younger then me), I dropped a bottle on my downstairs neighbor's pvc roof... And I lived on the second floor... which obviously blew a hole the diameter of the bottom of this bottle! At that time, my parents, after the displeasure shown by my neighbor, grounded me. Interesting, how an episode, which has nothing to do with a fall of mine, managed to do and produce such a fear of heights, and of dropping the things I have in my hand! Even today, when I'm on the ledge of a high place, I'm afraid of dropping what I have in my hands! (camera, mobile phone, etc!).
I just loved the little detour in your post! It was lovely!

This picture is AWESOME! Congratulations!

Thanks for sharing.
I totally get your point. I know how massive an impact of falling objects can be. Even a falling cloth can be a hazard to somebody. Imagine that cloth, or a square meter of film of a sticker (advertising), it wouldn't strike somebody to death or do any damage directly. But if it falls onto a windscreen of a lorry 🙈

Probably because of your experience you'd be a great climber. Always tie up lose objects.

Thank you for your feedback 🙏😌

😅😅

I'm not as brave as you are!! That is for sure, my friend... ^.^

Thank you so much my friend 🙏🏽😌

Omg, yes please. I want to travel with you.

LFG! 😌

Yes, we will. Where will our next winter be?

Beautiful photos. Good post.
