Yo! Trying to cut down on sugar but still wanna keep it sweet? 😎 Here’s the lowdown on natural and artificial sugar swaps that’ll save your taste buds AND your health. 🥰👇
💻 Artificial Sweeteners (a.k.a. science-made magic):
Aspartame – Super sweet (200x sugar), low-key controversial but calorie-free. (pure evil and unhealthy)
Sucralose – 600x sweeter than sugar, and it survives baking 👩🍳🔥.
Acesulfame K – Sweet but kinda meh alone, works best in a squad (like sodas). 🥤
Saccharin – OG sweetener. Once had a bad rap, but it’s back on the “safe list.”
Stevia (processed) – Plant-based but tweaked, super sweet (200x sugar).
🌿 Natural Sweeteners (straight outta nature):
Honey 🍯 – Sweet, tasty, packed with antioxidants. But watch those calories!
Maple Syrup 🍁 – Sweet AND it’s got minerals like zinc. #HealthyVibes
Agave Syrup – Low GI but loaded with fruc-to-the-toze. Moderation, fam!
Erythritol – 70% as sweet as sugar, zero cals, and tooth-friendly! 🦷✨
Xylitol – Tastes like sugar, fewer calories. Bonus: fights cavities. #DentalGoals
Stevia (natural) – The OG sweetener from the Stevia rebaudiana plant. No cals!
Coconut Sugar 🥥 – Slightly lower GI, same calories as sugar, and tastes AMAZING.
Monk Fruit 🍈 – Crazy sweet (150x sugar), no calories, no sugar spikes. (this one I didn't try yet)
So, which one’s YOUR vibe?
Low-cal legends: Stevia, erythritol, sucralose.
Natural goodies: Honey, maple syrup, coconut sugar.(real sugar, not so healthy)
For diabetics: Erythritol, monk fruit, stevia.
Baking squad: Xylitol, sucralose, erythritol.
I'm not sure about sucralose... It's weird too good to be true...
I like Xylitol but it has some calories...
I, personally use erythritol almost exclusively.
One exception: I use real sugar when making kombucha. But that's another topic for later
