Bass For The Jazz Derelicts Feb 2nd 2025

in Discovery-ityesterday

Bass for Jazz Derelicts is once a month. Just like they said when I stated. One gig and or rehearsal per month.

Work Before Work Sunrises

I’m not complaining. Coffee and sunrise hunting is a work privilege. A trust privilege. A privilege earned without regart to skin-tone, politics, racial miss perceptions, or overly propagandized bags of …

Sunrise was covered in fog.

Coffee was perfect. Cookie was excessive.

Venue

This performance is located across from an old graveyard.

Hopefully we wake the dead.
Hopefully the dead enjoy bass and disco music.
Hopefully the dead like our rendition of Boogie Oogie Oogie’s .

I hope noone’s haunted by wrong notes.
There’s probably gonna be a killer after party.
I’m gonna play Children Of The Grave for them.

Parking

No parking issues at this venue. They have a small parking lot, but the area around them isn’t busy. Lots of curbside parking all around. Loading equipment wasn’t too bad. Anytime you can park on the stage feels like a win.
Technically, the parking lot is part of the stage. A small section of the parking lot directly in front has been reserved for the band. They have a nice tent and electricity is good. I’ve seen smokers here before. I was looking forward to that. I was looking forward to consuming some delicious smoked meat.
Yeah, food is really cool. Food doesn’t pay rent, but it sure does taste fucking great.

Music

Last performance i said, “that was fun and it will get better if we’re doin’ the same songs.” That was wishful thinking.

Same band, different singer and all different music. Maybe one or two songs is the same. FFS, shouldn’t we play some of the same songs from before? No rehearsals between gigs and then completely different songs between gigs, it’s coll. It’s a good challenge and the leadership is forgiving. This is low-key and low pay. I’m glad it’s fun. I’m glad the drummer caress for rhythm.

Look, I created a playlist on YouTube. It features our set list for this February 2 performance. Some of the guys expressed gratitude for the playlist. It sounds like noone‘s ever done this before.

Check it out bruh: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PL3Cdm_xlbcJwj4RLznfwSVCS7BQJBzOMW&feature=shared

This band likes lots of groovy 70s music and disco tunes. Songs that every bass player secretly wants to perform. I remember listening to disco guitar and disco bass parts privately before high school. When rhythm is your king, musical genres become side-notes or creative boundaries and fun “noise rules” to toy with.
