The executives don't care if it comes back to bite the company in the ass. By then they for the most part will have moved onto other companies and making more money leaving the mess for someone else.
It sucks that they did that to your district, but greed always wins out. They don't care about the long term health of the company, just what they can give investors now. Good luck in the migrations and hopefully this won't happen too soon again. It will at some point, just the way of the world...
Hopefully by the time it happens again I will be retired! This actually impacted a lot more than just our district. A quick search on Reddit will show you that many people are trying to figure out what to do versus taking the financial hit.
