Three-day trip through the magnificent Beskydy mountains #Day 1

My dad's biggest hobby is hiking while sleeping outdoors because of the fulfilling energy of nature that recharges him and the fact that no one bothers him.

His dream is to go any mountain crossing with his 3 sons and after a long time, this year we finally found the time and explored our favorite mountains - the Beskydy Mountains .
Even though I have personally explored them quite adequately, I still miss a lot of places I could have looked at during this trip. Our goal was to leave the village of Lužná (just outside Vsetín) and walk to the hotel Visalaje, a few kilometers from our village.

On the first day, we took advantage of our mother's kindness, who drove us to Lužná to a parking spot near the local shop where we made the last changes in our equipment and got ready for our trail. On the first day, we followed the route shown below. The trail led through the famous Čertovy and Pulčínské skály.

If you don't walk for a long time and you are not used to having a backpack on your back, the first kilometers are hard, at least for me. Overall, the first day is such a discovery of how the body is after doing nothing and carrying the total weight of the backpack. I realized very quickly that my body was not quite ready for such a heavy backpack and so I had to struggle a bit.

On our first day, you can see from the map that the main highlights for us were the rock formations, which are located in this part of Wallachia.

There was a nice atmosphere throughout our group, which was rewarded by beautiful weather so the heavy backpack and a few blisters didn't bother us too much. We took more breaks in the first few kilometers than in the rest of the stage. After a few breaks we realized we might not make our overnight stop, so we picked up the pace to cover at least 15 kilometers. )

The Čertovy skály are 150 m long and up to 25 m high sandstone rocks and are one of the most visited places in Wallachia. In contrast, the Pulčinské skály is the largest Moravian rock labyrinth and you will feel like you are in a fairy tale. The path is not completely easy and you have to help yourself in some parts even with your hands, but still, everyone who does not have a problem with the musculoskeletal system should be able to do it.

After crossing two of these rock massifs we picked up more speed and tried to find a suitable shelter for the night. The place finally fell on a tourist shelter near the mountain Šerklava, where there was also suitable flat bedding for our sleeping bags and mattresses.

Upon arriving at the overnight spot, we were greeted by a nice early evening light with promising sunset views. While waiting we built a small fire in the shelter for extra warmth and made dinner on the burner.

During dinner, we got a pretty nice sunset and I went to take a few more pictures before wrapping it up in my sleeping bag and falling asleep.

The night was not so good because after a long time, I slept basically under the wide sky and it started to drizzle, so I didn't sleep at all. The rest of the group told me that this was part of trekking, so I had no choice but to accept it and head out for the next day, which I'll cover in the next episode.

Overall, our watches reported about 20 kilometers, which is quite different from the maps, but you always take some extra steps, look at some more viewpoints.

LEO Power Up Day - July 15, 2024
