Week 1 Strategy
Villains,
We have been busy this week. Over on the new CryptoVillians Discord server we've been catching up with old friends, reporting in about promising new projects, and finding out what old accounts have appreciated since we last checked in. It's been wonderful to see how we've all grown in our time apart. One of our old friends is now Top 10 in Rising Star and others are well established in other projects and never stopped playing.
As we move into the second phase of this group we are in a season of replanting.
These are our priorities.
Locate and vet promising new projects. Share our findings with out brother and sister Villains.
Get established in as many promising new Play2Earn projects as possible. This often means maintaining the accounts for 12-36 months.
Realize profits. Keep items in our favorite games, sell out the assets in games we've grown beyond, and sell accounts where there is interest. For every winner here there will be 3-4 middling games or flat out failed projects.
Where possible, use the profits from one season of games to become established in future projects. Reinvest where your interest lies. This scene turns over quickly.
This is a very simple strategy many of us have used to find success across multiple games, ecosystems, and seasons of Play2Earn gaming. As we move into the next stage of this group there is absolutely no reason to change what is already working for us.
What has that looked like for me?
All hail the crown.
Promising New Projects
I've spent the past week calling for leads from my glorious villains, researching and digesting my findings, getting established in 3 new projects, and taking a few lumps along the way. At this time I'm happy to say that I've planted a good foundation in three new games and started earning crypto right away. These projects are:
- Guild of Guardians
- Pirate Nations
- Crazy Defense Heroes
Guild of Guardians
Guild of Guardians describes itself as follows:
Guild of Guardians is a roguelite mobile RPG in a world on the brink of destruction. Players build their dream team of Guardians to battle against the corrupting threat of the Dread while earning epic rewards.
GoG is your standard semi-idle dungeon runner with great graphics, charismatic Guardians, and a simple loop. You are faces with dungeons to clear with your groups of Guardians. Once you clear a Dungeon you can "sweep" it to clear it quickly to gain exp and gear. This unlocks new stuff yadda yadda yadda.
Not much to say here. This one is still very new and we had one active Villain really enjoying it so we've started a guild and a handful of us are jumping in early. Fingers crossed for good things to come but with it's crisp graphics and 'sweep' system this one seems like a keeper.
Pirate Nations
Pirate Nations has this to say:
Enjoy an exciting voxel rich world, full of adventure, challenge, and surprises. Quest to upgrade your pirates, craft in-game items, level up your gear, and battle challenging enemies. Join other players in special events to team up against fearsome world bosses!
Pirate Nations is looking to build up into a blockchain power RuneScape-type game with Slay the Spire style combat. Honestly, they had me at Slay the Spire on blockchain. Upon playing this one for just a few days I was immediately hooked, cashed out some ETH and MATIC from RollerCoin and purchased a Trading License and badass Pirate Ship.
Pirate Nations just finished it's first season and, if you make a pirate right now, they are still considere Founding Pirates. This is a HUGE green flag as far as I'm concerned and why I thought nothing of dropping $150+ to get established here right away.
Plus, the game play is killer. I really enjoy deck-builder style combat and spending my energy exploring and searching for unique islands full of items to bring home to craft into more usable gear.
Volcanic island with both ore and cotton! Everything I need to craft anchors and nets!
This one may become my primary game of focus in time. It has everything I look for in a new project and, if I can get established for ~$150, I call that a major win.
Crazy Defense Heroes
Crazy Defense Heroes keeps it simple by saying:
Collectible Card Game meets Tower Defense! Test Your Strategy & Tactics!
CDH has been around for a while and I have tangled with it in the past. It's your stand extremely well polished tower defense type game that has some blockchain integration that allows you to start earning their token (TOWER) by completing your daily quests.
I played this one a good deal a few years ago and had a level 43 account but, in order to get set back up as quickly as possible I started again from level 1, bought the cheapest NFT on OpenSea, and got to work. The main perks here are that both TOWER and Crazy Defense Heroes are both extremely well established, CDH is on Steam for gods sake!
This one ain't going anywhere and, with that being the case, I want my daily crypto from it!
Conclusion
With these three games added into my weekly play cycle I've got a nice handful of daily payers on week one. It's moments like this where I know with assurance that Play2Earn gaming is not going anywhere. it's not going to take over the traditional gaming industry but we don't need that. In the past, Play2Earn projects were very often games in name only and there was very little actual fun to be had and a lot of note-keeping. In a few short years crypto-games have become indistinguishable from standard mobile games.
With such a large portion of the worldwide player base owning a mobile phone the sky is the limit here. Games like Axie Infinite, Splinterlands, and Gods Unchained have shown the way forward and it's inspiring to see a new generation of games blazing the trail.
I'll be damned if I won't be involved!
