Physical inactivity is recognized as a risk factor with particularly adverse health consequences. Its role in promoting chronic diseases such as cardiovascular diseases, degenerative joint problems is widely studied. The reduction of both the lifespan and its quality appear as a sum of all these undesirable implications on the body.
This risk factor that accelerates the decline of vitality is, fortunately, modifiable. Although in childhood and youth the foundations of habits that we carry with us all our lives are laid, it is never too late to become a little more active. Those who manage to break away from the power of long-cultivated sedentary habits, but also from the prejudices often encountered in society regarding movement, enjoy many years without health problems and a generally increased quality of life.
Limiting the number of hours spent in front of the TV, telephone, and computer and wisely choosing to spend regular time walking, biking, hiking, gardening, or playing various sports can only add years to our lives.
