My Actifit Report Card: June 8 2024

in Actifit7 months ago

I was up and out for my walk fairly early today, well, for a Saturday anyway.

It was a short walk for me along Keynsham High Street and then back through the park.

I am trying to educate myself on the species of wild flowers in the local area, so I took a few pictures of this bright yellow flower growing up through the pavement near the park.

It turns out to be common ragwort (Senecio jacobaea). Apparently, the name refers to the ragged looking leaves). It's very common and considered to be a weed.

While I was walking through the park, I noticed a few of the vigorous large leafed plants below.

This is not good news as it turns out to be Himalayan Balsam, which is considered to be a non native invasive species. If left unchecked, it will take over the area and not allow any other plants to thrive. I'll report to the council on Monday, although I'm sure they will already be aware of it.

Finally, I couldn't resist including my picture of a female blackbird in my back garden. Lucky timing caught her having a good shake.

Thank you for reading, and I'll be back tomorrow.
