Vasaloppet 2025

in Actifit13 hours ago

So yesterday was the big day, Vasaloppet. For those reading this and dont know what it is, its a cross country skiing race that is 90km between Sälen and Mora, Dalarna Sweden.
For me its one of thw highlights of the year and its one of 4 races you need to complete in a year to have done whats called a "Svensk klassiker".

This was my 7th time doing Vasaloppet and at the start of my training before the race I had high hopes that this could be my best year of all, but I caught the flu in February which forced me to rest for around 12 days. That was noticiable yesterday on the race.

Weather at the start point was around +2 and the speaker let us know that the temperature was shifting over the entire course, but that by the afternoon it would be +8 in Mora. This led to soft snow and that the tracks didnt exist for us who isnt at the elite level.

I started good in the first hill, the race starts with 3km basically just uphill and since there 15000 participants it becomes a big queue.

I got up after 38mins and after that its time to ski around and on some lakes. This part went super well because the surface was like ice, which my skin skiis is perfectly suited for.

So had a good time until the second drink depot. Now the snow shifted to a softer one which wasnt good for my skiis. So was really rough for me the rest like 65km.
But with a lot of determination and good support from my girlfriend I manage to cross the finish line after 8h and 2 mins.
Super happy with that after the circumstances.
Now my body just need some rest to recover and we will see if I sign up for another one next year ;)
