Awake well before sunrise churning stuff. Kept turning over to squeeze out another 15 minutes. With 80 kms to go I can afford that. Sun is out but forecast says there could be rain on the south coast. I am thinking as I move north I should stay away from it. Riding a little after 7:30 am as there are some big hills today
Drop down to Wallaga Lake and the wooden pick a plank bridge. The planks run the length of the bridge and there are gaps between them - hence pick a plank and stick on the line - or walk
Stunning colours looking to the sea side of the lake. Big climb away from the lake to rejoin the Princes Highway. Took some pushing
Fabulous views back down the valley I have ridden up. The cows look content. Next view is across to Tilba
Zoom in and you will see vehicles on the Princes Highway. The Tilba mountain is quite distinctive in shape - we will see it later. I chose not to go into Tilba Tilba - did that last time. The smart way is to stick to Princes Highway and come back in from the top road. Less steep. Today I will buy cheese at Bodalla. I finished the chunk of Tilba cheese last night. Big climb out of the Tilba Valley. Road runs along the top of the ridgeline for a while
Lake Corruna viewed from the top - it wraps around quite a few bends in the hill lines
Road looks like it wants to dive into the lake. Sky and clouds look great.
Next stop Narooma for a coffee and a snack. The GPS route had me skipping town altogether. I doubled back to find coffee.
Narooma lift bridge still operating - we had to wait. Made for a big queue of traffic. Big climb away from Narooma and then a little more into rollers until Bodalla but always each peak higher than the last.
Made it into Bodalla, a village famous for its cheese. I ate my lunch in the garden behind the Dairy Shed. Topped up the cheeses and an ice coffee.
Across the street is the Bodalla pub. From here the road is more down than up as it drops to Moruya - firstly to cross Tuross River
Big and brown like many of the rivers crossed the last two weeks
Hills keep coming and roadworks directly after Tuross River with Stop/Go boards. Not ideal for a cyclist as the patience with how much slower we are is low. I rode hard when there was not traffic and rested when the last stop/go group passed. On one of the descents, my phone holder gave way and dumped the camera phone on the road at speed. I raced back to pick it up before it got crunched by a truck. Phone was not happy.
Those numbers are getting better. 13 kms to Moruya to buy provisions from dinner and under 100 miles to Nowra.
Did the shopping in Moruya for dinner. Bought beers in the bottle shop over the river.
Moruya River is also big and brown. Turn right onto North Head road - a ling flat run to Broulee with few pimple bumps.
Next sign lays out out the rest of the day - Broulee - and first part of tomorrow to Batemans Bay.
Happy to make Broulee and to check into caravan park.
Smaller cabin than yesterday and no views. Got showered and headed to beach for look see.
Looking south - zoom in and you will see a big mountain (left third). That is Tilba Mountain from 80 kms away.
Sure pleased I got provisions in Moruya - no need to think. Just execute.
I did find orchids today - the one photo is on the phone that got trashed. I did try to recover it - no luck. Luckily all photos from prior days have been copied to my other phone and do get backed up. Ordered a refurbished Samsung S8 to replace it.
Dinner: Lamb chops bought in Moruya cooked in electric frying pan plus salad from the day before.
Two days to go.
