Day is forecast to steam up. Got moving and changed the sequence of things. Normally I walk and then shop. Just knew it was going to be really sweaty walking. Took ice bricks and a cool box. Shopped first and loaded up the cool bin
Walked the Terrey Hills side of Ku-ring Gai Chase NP hoping to find midge orchids on the grassy edges of the trail. Mimosa flowers out.
The flying insect caught my eye on this one. It was a snap and hope photo. Becomes candidate for photo of the year
Cicadas were busy. Always a chance for a husk photo
A few NSW coral heath flowers going. A bit windy for first plant which was white. This one is a bit pink. Epacris pulcella
Pea flowers still going
Purple fan flower
Peach-flowered tea tree - leptospermum squarrosum
First orchid of the day was the orchid of the day - cryptostylis subulata - last flower for this plant this season
Matching leaves - two plants worth
Hibbertia - a few flowering
Scribbly gum grandeur
Pale flax lily - two shots to test photo lengths
I cannot decide which works better - thinking the second
Tear drop flower (my name). Turning into a good day to get difficult subjects right
Pink grevillea on the way back.
5km marker - my access to the track is around the 2km marker. Turned back about here. Next time I will access the trail from the other side to walk a different grassy section
White grevillea - look closer to see the insect
Snake orchid up high. Zoom in to see the seeds - cymbidium suave - not seen this spot to date
Cluster or cryotostylis orchid leaves. Did see some seeded but no flowers.
Turned into a huge walk over 10k steps. Sure was sweaty.
Dinner: Italian meat balls with pasta. Looks different as finishing was done baked in bbq with hood down.
Late night discussion with my wife's son who is staying until he finds a place. He managed to get under my skin - not for the first time. Has cost me two days work thus far.
