Somehow let the morning's investing and IM stuff drag the hours away - went out for an afternoon walk down Blackbutt Creek track looking for wasp orchids
In cross over season for orchids do not know what is coming up - first photo often sets the theme for the day. Grass seeds perhaps - always happy to get one standing still enough
Maybe seeds - a daisy seeded

The mission was chiloglottis orchids - last week I walked the track there were no leaves - now a few
And one budding close to the edge of the track - the signs of the cross over from summer to autumn orchids
Saw this flash of yellow. Thought it might be hibbertia. The leaf behind does not match those - looks like a strawberry. Never seen a yellow flower on a strawberry
Good ID - it is a strawberry 🍓
Back to orchid spotting - mushroom emerging and a few chiloglottis leaves
Note the leaf form to the right - the first chiloglottis of the season - just one
ID is a bit of a challenge - going to go with chiloglottis seminuda based on the lack of calli on the bottom of the labellum. The nature of the calli has me mixed up
A lot of these tiny lobelia flowers on the edge of the rainforest
Mushrooms are also the sign of autumn heading this way. Rain last week helps

Ginger flower in full plume - no idea if this is a garden escapee or not. Gardens are not far away up the hill
This is a bigger test - name is scurvy weed which is a native but often runs wild out of gardens
Last photo confirms the previous sighting from a km further along the track - strawberry - probably wild.
