Arsenal faced off against Newcastle at the Emirates tonight in a battle against the two in-form teams in the league. The Gunners were hoping to maintain their lead on Man City while Newcastle are looking to keep pace for a champions league spot
Tts the one game this season where Arsenal have really been put to the test and the defence had to work really had especially with the aerial threat with the likes of Wood and the trickery of Almiron.
Newcastle also have the best defensive record in the league and have been on their best run in years. They have been tough to break down and Arsenal have had a tough time carving out chances.
Even with the strongest team they could field it doesn't look like they have enough and it really looks like we were missing the industry of Jesus tonight.
Arsenal have been swinging balls into the box all night but nothing has really dropped for them. While 3 points would have been ideal keeping your clean sheet and earning a point is still not the worst result.
The result alos shows Arsenal don't have much in terms of depth ont he bench with Miel not even attempting to look at his bench for alternatives to try and turn the game

Given the form Newcastle are in at the moment, it's a good result to even snatching a point. At least, they have a point rather than giving the third placed team full 3 points. Yes, they needed that proper striker upfront today to break the defence. They played good though.
Yes they defended like absolute demons it was frustrating to watch, but you have to respect their commitment, defending like that requires a lot of concentration and team work on another level
For neutral fans like me, the next 2 games arsenal plays with Spurs and United will be a treat. United is playing well without the Ronaldo cloud over them.
