Un milagro inesperado en nuestro patio
No hay alegría más grande que ver crecer una vida, y en este caso, ocho pequeñas vidas que llegaron como un regalo inesperado. Hoy, con mucha emoción, quiero compartir con ustedes la historia de mis queridas "Petunias", nuestras tortugas ninjas, que este mes cumplen su primer año de vida.
Desde que tengo memoria, las tortugas han sido parte de nuestra familia. La historia comienza con el padre de estas pequeñas, una tortuga que le regalaron a mi hermano mayor cuando apenas cabía en la palma de su mano. Hoy en día, mi hermano se encuentra en Valencia, España, pero el padre sigue con nosotros, habiendo vivido entre 15 a 20 años bajo nuestro cuidado.
Luego, la madre de las Petunias llegó a nuestras vidas de una manera inesperada. En la casa de mis padres, donde no hay bardas de material sino plantas, un día simplemente apareció en nuestro patio, probablemente cruzando desde el vecino. Y allí se quedó, formando un vínculo con nuestro Petunio (el padre) y, con el tiempo, convirtiéndose en la madre de nuestra pequeña gran familia de tortugas.
Cuatro intentos fallidos, pero la quinta fue la vencida
Desde que estos dos tortugos formaron su pareja, cada vez que ponían huevos esperábamos con ilusión que nacieran crías. Pero la realidad fue diferente. Cuatro veces lo intentaron, y cuatro veces los huevos se echaron a perder o fueron devorados por las hormigas. Parecía que no iba a ser posible, y aunque lo intentamos todo para protegerlos, los resultados siempre fueron los mismos. La esperanza se fue apagando poco a poco.
Pero algo dentro de mí me decía que no debían rendirse, y nosotros no perder la esperanza. Llegué incluso a pedirle a Dios que la próxima vez que nuestra tortuga pusiera huevos, estos pudieran nacer y dar vida a nuevas crías. Y así fue. Sin darnos cuenta, en un rincón de nuestro patio, en una quinta puesta de huevos que ni siquiera habíamos notado, se estaba gestando un pequeño milagro.
La Gran Sorpresa: 8 pequeñas tortugas ninjas
El 15 de Febrero del año pasado, mi hermana menor y mi padre estaban limpiando una parte del patio donde había varias piedras. De repente, entre las rocas y la tierra, comenzaron a aparecer unas pequeñas criaturas. "Mira, apareció una y otra", dijo mi hermana. Y así, una tras otra, fueron saliendo a la luz.
Primero una, luego dos, tres, cuatro... hasta llegar a seis. ¡No lo podíamos creer! Mi padre encontró otra un par de días después, y para hacer aún más mágico este suceso, la octava Petunia apareció casi dos meses más tarde, en abril.
Mis hermanos que están en España bromeaban diciendo que eran las "Tortugas Ninjas" y que solo faltaba que apareciera su maestro Splinter. Y no los culpo, porque la historia parecía sacada de una película. Ocho pequeñas guerreras que lograron sobrevivir contra todo pronóstico, después de tantos intentos fallidos.
Un año de alegría y gratitud
Ahora, un año después, nuestras Petunias están creciendo sanas y fuertes. No hay día en que no las cuidemos como si fueran nuestros bebés. Cada una tiene su propia personalidad, sus pequeñas travesuras y su forma de moverse por el patio.
Este primer año es un recordatorio de que la perseverancia vale la pena, de que la paciencia y el amor dan frutos, y de que los milagros pueden ocurrir cuando menos lo esperamos. Pensar que por tanto tiempo creímos que nunca tendríamos crías, y ahora tenemos ocho pequeñas tortugas que nos llenan de alegría cada día.
Hoy compartimos con ustedes nuestra felicidad, acompañada de algunas fotos de nuestras queridas Petunias junto a sus orgullosos padres. Este es un día especial para nuestra familia, un día en el que celebramos la vida, el amor por los animales y la magia de la naturaleza.
Y para aquellos que, como nosotros, han esperado pacientemente por algo que parece imposible, les digo: nunca pierdan la fe. La vida siempre nos sorprende cuando menos lo esperamos.

An unexpected miracle in our backyard
There is no greater joy than to see a life grow, and in this case, eight little lives that arrived as an unexpected gift. Today, with great emotion, I want to share with you the story of my beloved “Petunias”, our ninja turtles, who will celebrate their first birthday this month.
For as long as I can remember, turtles have been part of our family. The story begins with the father of these little ones, a turtle that was given to my older brother when he could barely fit in the palm of his hand. Today, my brother is in Valencia, Spain, but the father is still with us, having lived 15 to 20 years under our care.
Then the mother of the Petunias came into our lives in an unexpected way. In my parents' house, where there are no material fences but plants, one day she simply appeared in our yard, probably crossing from the neighbor. And there she stayed, forming a bond with our Petunio (the father) and, in time, becoming the mother of our little big family of turtles.
Four unsuccessful attempts, but the fifth time was the charm.
Ever since these two turtles formed their pair, every time they laid eggs we looked forward to the hatching of hatchlings. But the reality was different. Four times they tried, and four times the eggs spoiled or were eaten by ants. It seemed that it was not going to be possible, and although we tried everything to protect them, the results were always the same. Hope was slowly fading away.
But something inside me told me that they should not give up, and we should not lose hope. I went so far as to ask God that the next time our turtle laid eggs, they would hatch and give life to new offspring. And so it happened. Before we knew it, in a corner of our backyard, in a fifth clutch of eggs that we hadn't even noticed, a small miracle was taking place.
The Big Surprise: 8 little ninja turtles
On February 15 last year, my younger sister and my father were cleaning a part of the yard where there were several rocks. Suddenly, among the rocks and dirt, some little creatures began to appear. “Look, one appeared and another,” my sister said. And so, one after another, they came to light.
First one, then two, three, four... until there were six. ¡We couldn't believe it! My father found another one a couple of days later, and to make this event even more magical, the eighth Petunia appeared almost two months later, in April.
My brothers in Spain joked that they were the “Ninja Turtles” and that all that was missing was the appearance of their master Splinter. And I don't blame them, because the story seemed like something out of a movie. Eight little warriors who managed to survive against all odds, after so many failed attempts.
A year of joy and gratitude
Now, one year later, our Petunias are growing healthy and strong. Not a day goes by that we don't take care of them as if they were our babies. They each have their own personalities, their own little antics and their own way of moving around the yard.
This first year is a reminder that perseverance pays off, that patience and love pay off, and that miracles can happen when we least expect them. To think that for so long we thought we would never have hatchlings, and now we have eight little turtles that fill us with joy every day.
Today we share with you our happiness, accompanied by some pictures of our beloved Petunias with their proud parents. This is a special day for our family, a day when we celebrate life, love for animals and the magic of nature.
And for those of you who, like us, have waited patiently for something that seems impossible, I say to you: never lose faith. Life always surprises us when we least expect it.
