A dear greeting to all lovers of physical activities that populate the mythical community of Actifit.
The day began with some clouds in the sky that, as the hours passed, gradually left the scene in the sun, the undisputed protagonist of the day.
Today I set off very early for a day of walking and art here we meet at the station of Piazza Municipio in Naples where about twenty days ago was inaugurated the underpass from Metro 1 to the port of Naples.
The gate was opened in the middle of the ruins of the old Roman port of the city that can be seen from the underpass itself.
These walls of Greek origin and then reinforced by the Romans were part of the fortress that surrounds the original city or Partenope and here you can see some walls of the premises of this old Roman port.
To my surprise I observe the presence of a ship that I thought was the Amerigo Vespucci but then I discovered that it is the Mexican Navy sailing ship "Cuauhtémoc"The school ship named after the last Aztec sailor Cuauhtémoc arrived here today and can be visited on July 30 and 31.
The ship is located in front of the Maschio Angioino where a concert will be held in honor of the ship played by Eduardo Rodriguez.
Today the sun is very good and the temperatures are acceptable in line with those of the best summers and stay in the sun for a few minutes to observe the magnificence and beauty of the beautiful and glorious city of Naples does not cause excruciating headaches.
After this visit, from afar, I see activities in the vicinity of that church at the bottom of that lately was attracting my curiosity.
This wonderful church building with its rococo facade is in a very hidden position in the middle of the streets that line the port of Naples and its walls show a recent restoration.
Outside the church is the obelisk of Portosalvo, a magnificent sculpture in piperno of 1799 made in honor of the Bourbon restoration after the brief Jacobin experience of the city.
The church of Santa Maria di Portosalvo was founded in the sixteenth century by a sailor, Bernardino Belladonna who was saved from a shipwreck in a very daring and adventurous way and for this reason felt the need to thank Our Lady.
Of extraordinary beauty is the wooden ceiling with gilded decorations enriched with a wonderful painting by Battistello Caracciolo in the center or The Glory of the Virgin.
The altar is a project of the wonderful sculptor Dionisio Lazzari while the sculptures of the apse, depicting Saint Peter and Saint Paul, were made by Angelo and Giacomo Viva at the end of 1700. At the center there is the painting of the sixteenth century depicting Santa Maria di Portosalvo.
To the right of the altar is this magnificent painting by the Italian painter Antonio de Bellis who was a pupil of Massimiliano Stanzione. It depicts Our Lady of the Rosary with the souls of Purgatory.
Among the polychromatic marble of the altar there are these figures depicting the shipwreck that inspired the construction of this church that was just outside the ancient walls on a modest promontory surrounded by the sea.
Unfortunately I could not stay inside because I arrived at the end of the last mass and while the operators were preparing the closure they let me gently photograph until the exit of the presbyter from the church.
To return to the station of Piazza Garibaldi I noticed that passing through the alleys of Corso Umberto I the road is considerably shortened starting from the pier Beverello. Evidently the sea road forms the head of a trapeze with the parallel Corso Umberto I.
Before returning home, passing through the mall, it’s time to celebrate the #iamalivechallenge 418 in which I have to tell you to be very satisfied with this Today’s Journey to Discover the Wonders of Naples and be #alive.

in fact in Naples we are restoring a large number of churches and monuments.
While they’re at the port, there’s gonna be an archaeological park with those ruins next year.
Of course there is still a lot to do as shown by the state of abandonment of Porta Nolana (present in the two photos before my night selfie).
