Poppy flowers in a field of wheat; this is common in many fields where people use their own seeds from the year before. Otherwise, if the seeds are bought from a big company, they usually go through a process of selection and treatment with chemicals with no chance for poppies to appear in the field. Whenever I decide to take a closer look on something, of course, Max has to closely check as well.

Poppies are already in the soil and can be dormant for decades until the soil is disturbed. This is why many battle sites have so many Poppies and they have not been planted by someone.
That's something new I learned today, I just thought that their seeds get mixed with the seeds from the main culture. Thanks for the cool info!
Max is such a sweetie! He looks like he's just going to check it out and smell it and never trample it! Poppies are awesome flowers. We've not had much luck growing them here. Most the time the slugs have at them before we know it and they are mowed down as if they just didn't exist!
