"Hit em with the pointy end!"

This popped into my head when I saw this poignant pointilism piece at The Guggenheim Museum in New York City on Saturday. There was so much awesome art on display, so I took a ton of pics for my active actifit and hive communities to enjoy. My memory is getting full, so what better way to preserve these awesome images than here on the Hive blockchain!

Thankfully, with my afternoon adventure to the Museum Mile destination, I finally tallied my first day of 2025 over 10K steps. On Monday 6, life is going to get more serious about the self-care, specifically through activity and diet, so I'm excited for this new year on actifit to track the journey and progress. Of course, I also enjoy the opportunity to journal about the sights and sounds of Brooklyn & New York City so you can get a glimpse of all their glory, from street art and museums to fine dining and some of the best nightclubs in the world!

Props to this fun French artist for his work on the cover image. I'll do my very best to make sure I can match all the art to the artist plaques. But before any winter afternoon outing, there was a full morning of EPL soccer action.

Chelsea pissed away another 2 points against a local London side in a match they dominated for long stretches. They continue to lack the finishing touch to put teams away with crooked numbers and have dropped 8 out of their last 9 points in the Prem against teams they will surely finish ahead of (Two London rivals and the other Blues in the league)! Time to get their business in order for the business end of the season -- there's silverware that needs to be won! /endrant

Despite being nearly an hour late to leave our apartment, we made good time on our walk to and from the subway on our commute from a Bushwick L train to an Upper East Side Express to 86th. The unique circular nature of Frank Lloyd Wright's spiraling museum design for The Guggenheim means plenty of steps as we are vertically climbing a swirl on a small corner lot in the city.

The main exhibit featured the work of the Orphist movement in the early 1900s known for its round shapes and abstract subjects. This French chap Robert Delauney (and his partner) we leaders in the movement and helped to inspire others.

The work of Kupka caught my attention for its distorted abstract colors from the center of the image. Makes sense he was also a math and science guy when not into art.

Check out this masterfully abstract picture of New York City's famed pedestrian rite of passage, The Brooklyn Bridge! I especially enjoyed the description of the artist's fascination with iconic NYC landmarks.

Shoot, I don't have the credit for this pic, but I liked the imagery too much not to share. Look at the lil fella skydiving into Paris on a napkin!

This work from a female Russian artist focused on an Electric Lamp, which makes sense with the world's fascination with energy after the turn of the 20th century. The bright, vivid colors work nicely with the big, bold Orphist style.

Can't leave out the sculptures! More vivid colors and playful round shapes!

Body part art is always an A+ in my book. I remember doing this with my hands, but this is next level awesome!

Interesting take on a bride. I would have never guessed!

From a more permanent collection, here's a cool panel peace from a French park.

Oh daddy, indeed! Talk about a passion project. High marks for the provocative artwork title.

Another jaw-dropped piece of art that was clearly a labor of love. Look at the size of that blanket!

Big finish for the Orphists with this thoughtful depiction of Adam & Eve by the visionary Jewish artist Marc Chagall. There is so much going on here!

Joining us on this museum mission was my brother visiting from Portland OR and my sister visiting from Denver CO, along with the mom who made it all happen! My mom headed back home for a dinner reservation while our lil crew of five took a longshot on walking into a popular dinner spot just before the dinner rush.

We scurried back over to the subway and made it down to SoHo, and got our name on the list for dinner at the inventive Thai Diner. It was only 6pm and they already quoted me about an hour wait. Unfazed, we were all with the plan and headed around the corner for a quick drink and warm pub out of the cold. After just 30 minutes, we got the text to return to the spot and got seated promptly.

The food was spectacular! Sadly, my two lame pictures in low light don't do this meal any justice. My partner and I started with a Tom Yum Bisque and Raw Scallop plate. The soup was remarkably creamy for its deep red broth and had a creative dollop of stiff coconut cream to give relief to the heat. The scallops were left whole, sitting in a delicious pool of a brightly acidic passion fruit sauce. YUM!

For entrees, we split crab fried rice and lamb lamb, which is a Thai salad with onions, herbs, and toasted rice. Everything tasted great and we brought some leftovers home to make sure we kept room for dessert. To finish, we enjoyed a huge coconut ice cream sundae and pineapple layer cake. Shame I was so excited to dig in that I didn't get a money shot off the tall mountain of whipped cream next to the smiling face on the cake. Genius!

All in all, a very successful day of activity and art, hanging with my siblings for one last day before everyone goes their separate ways to end this holiday break. With all the walking around Manhattan, I got over 10K in 2025 finally, despite staying in for the rest of the night after getting home for an early dinner.

There was talk about checking out the dubstep popup event hosted by local brother duo -- Yookie -- but being a mile away I couldn't convince anyone to leave the cuddly warm bed after getting comfy. Live EDM events will have to wait for next week. Until next time...
