The end of the school week snuck up on me, and I could barely keep up. Thursday, I decided to stay back from our roller rink field trip to hang with the students who didn't qualify to go on the trip. Someone had to do it, and I could tell nobody else wanted to volunteer, so I fell on the grenade.
For 3.5 hours, it was just me and the 12 kids who came to school ineligible for the trip. I received a few stay-back assignments for the students to complete, but that was wishful thinking. I spent most of the afternoon trying to quell their playful defiance. As a one-time stay-back kids myself, it was hard being the hard-ass with these students.
Because I spent so much time seated during my afternoon of teaching, I never made it up to the 10K threshold. I was spared a few trips up and down the stairs as well. It made for a nice evening at home, where I got back before sunset. But I had a lot of loose ends to tie up and stayed up late Thursday night working (and playing Splinterlands battles).
Friday was smooth sailing since I'm mostly rolled off of classes on our Friday B days. I had a few classes where I used our online math portal to help students get practice in their areas of weakness. It is helpful to have the data to know where the students need to focus their time to improve their skills.
As a treat for conducting a fun field trip for the students, our principal bought us all entrees from our local Thai restaurant to enjoy at our grade team meeting after school. We also had our first math department meeting with our Math Dean since her return from maternity leave. Everything is coming together at the right time of the school year.
Another easy day at school meant another day under 10K steps. And without any plans to go out Friday night, I knew I wouldn't make it past 10K. But I enjoyed the lazy night at home with my partner eating a home-cooked dinner and watching a few movies. Until next time...
